Kovu
Adolescent Angst
Rescued by an allied clan, he was raised to be Evangeline's mate. Quiet and rather dull he spent most of his young life trailing after Evangeline and listening to her talk. He would give anything to be the center of her world like she was to him.
He has known no other love.
Unfortunately Evangeline could not and would not love him. She tolerated him but always treated him with a coldness Kovu could not understand. He could accept Evangeline creating nests with other males as that was a fact of life and a common occurrence in the clan but he started to notice her constantly around another male. One day he caught them together whispering, sharing secrets and sharing laughs that Kovu had never experienced with another dragon.
Enraged and jealous he cast off the teachings of the clan and found any dark clothes and weapons he could find. He was determined to hunt the male dragon down. He was more heartbroken than ever when Evangeline did not seem concerned.
In the end the male chose to go serve their deity. Evangeline was melancholy but it brought Kovu no happiness. She needed to suffer as he had suffered. He decided to stay with the clan as he had nowhere else to go and chose Taina to be his companion.
He doesn't love her.
