LORE Baikal is a quiet, introspective dragon with a love for art, music, and nature. While he loves the family he has found in the lair, he is a restless soul who loves to explore and travel. Baikal will frequently go on long flights away from the lair, traversing the Shifting Expanse in an effort to see all he can. He loves mountains and high places, and will often sit on the summits of isolated hills composing poetry or simply enjoying the view. He enjoys swimming, even though he complains about how waterlogged his wings get. Baikal might be an Ice dragon, but his true passion is botany. His favorite place in his clan's territory is a small hidden oasis at the bottom of the cliffs near the clan's main caverns, and he has taken it upon himself to turn the far bank of the oasis into his own personal garden. After consulting Hanyi about the many spectacular plants of the Viridian Labyrinth, he sought to acquire some specimens for his garden - unfortunately, the plants were unable to withstand the intense heat and sun of the Shifting Expanse, and they died. Baikal was distraught over the failure of his garden until a Snapper named Amira, who was passing through, offered her help and experience with his project. Excited to have a friend to garden with, Baikal eagerly welcomed her. The garden became a joint affair as the pair became closer; before long, the far shore of the oasis was covered in blooms thanks to their hard work. Baikal dislikes hunting and strenuous labor like digging, unless it's in his garden, and fighting is out of the question for him. His knowledge of plants and botany has led him to collaborate with Mihiyo for research on edible and medicinal plants, and he grows a large amount of his clan's produce at the oasis, selling the extra to nearby dragons or trading with the Maren on the coast for Sugarmelons, which are Amira's favorite food. He has also begun experimenting with aquaculture in the oasis, but so far has not been able to bring himself to eat any of the fish he has so lovingly cultivated. | ~~~~~~ |
