Biography

Candal
Determined / Strong / Protective
And so it was, cast out with no where to turn, ostracized in the most caustic manner, belligerence directed towards his 'kind', he found his solace. Vengeance uttered upon the frigid winds as he made his solemn vow; silent within the threads of time, weaving tighter he knew. It was all there was. Time. The Wheel would keep turning and he'd show them. They would suffer as he and others like him had. It wasn't over.

Born into a war torn land where those possessing magical properties were persecuted and slaughtered, Candal had always retained hope. Believing in the prospect of change, faith to one day see the unity of the gifted and the mundane. Bathed in blood, convicted and hated, for so long he remained in hiding. Suppressing his hermetics, the young mage spent most of his early years retaining in seclusion and forced to deny his own birthright. For so long it appeared as all a misunderstanding -- for him he believed in the King and would one day, reconsider his declaration. Though such wasn't to be had.

Still, was it possible for someone to deny their own hate? To forego their own belligerence in favor of pardonableness, to see the good in the world, not just evil and darkness? Such was not to be had. The turmoil to great. The damage too steep. Enmity the only thing the natives had known. Had grown to understand. Fear and trepidation had laid it's fateful grasp and torn asunder the only peace the once tranquil place it had been. Now governed by a dark vengeful ruler, he had clung to his fleeting belief, retaining positive that change would come. Even joining the royal guard in hopes of pressing his influence. For a time, such seemed to be the glimmer on the horizon.

Yet, as time wore on, tensions only mounted and became worse. Many of his ilk were murdered, executed under the unwavering decree. Innocents who stained the rivers crimson with each life extinguished, constantly culled in hopes of eradicating each and every gifted. For so long Candal kept is optimism, offering his strength and services to protect the the life of the King, going as far as to integrate himself fully to the guard. It was even there where he met Aliq.

He had found them. Others just like him. Outcasts. Hated. Culled. Forced to be subservient to those of higher standing. Enough. Torrid fury soared within his heart, the passion white hot. He would protect them. Show them the paradise he would create at the apex of their salvation. For him, this was a means to an end.

It was done. Almost no longer could he conceal the farce - he was already becoming suspected. Even after he had taken on a charge; a youth named Oscar and teaching him the ways of the gifted, the boy having shown clear signs of hermetics. They trained in seclusion. Honing the boy's abilities, slowly gaining the confidence in his ability to manipulate the power, focus on the threads, pull harder, draw faster, Candal saw the youth's potential. Was it possible to rise from the ashes once more? If others who were connected, able to draw from the source, possessed magical properties, would witches finally have a fighting chance? Deep in the shroud, housing secrets, knowing his stance, the prospect fell to allure. He was tired of the suppression. Sick of the prejudice. Done with the segregation. Being called monsters, evil and twisted for just being different. Soon it became clear. Enough was enough.

Despite the relationships he formed, the final straw had been broken. He was eventually cast out. Forced to abandon all he had done. What he had come to cherish and love. To run. Run again. No more. Even Aliq had turned his back on him, the resentment clear in his old friend's eyes. Discontent burned ardent, like liquid fire in his veins and he swore. For him, the spark for the hatred he buried so deep finally burst to life. For him, the deliverance was nigh and he would see those of his kin arise, giving a haven for witches and all magic users alike. Anyone able to connect and draw from the power, anyone able to weave and control the elements was deserving of this new world, a sanctity where the mundane would no longer threaten their lives and existence.

He would make this dream become a reality. He would start a rebellion.

You have been through it all. You’ve been laughed at, spit on, insulted, stabbed, ridiculed. You were tired of these mundane people. They didn’t know the power you had, the things you’ve seen, what you’ve done to protect this accursed kingdom. And yet -- oh how bitter it made you to think about -- they treated you like a fiend! An enemy to their way of life, even though you were only trying to protect it!
You were sick and tired of it. You left the royal guard and began to form a group of powerful Witches that would turn the world upside down. You would make a kingdom for your people, no matter what it took. The ceremony to willingly accept insects into their ranks was the perfect place to make your stand. The thought almost made you giddy, and the infiltration was easy after putting the guards to sleep. Everything would work out in your favor since you would have everything to do with it.

Ability: Bedtime. Put one person to sleep every night, stopping them from using their ability.
