AS A HATCHLING:

From Firestorm's first nest with Rivermoon. He's young and brave, but perhaps too confident in his own abilities. His siblings started their Search very young, so he learned to get along with hatchlings that aren't his siblings from a young age. He considers himself leader of the young group.

He adores Firestorm, and follows him around even when he shouldn't, which gets him into trouble. He feels a bit smothered by Rivermoon.

AS AN ADULT:

Nightshade's self confidence never tempered, and he tends to think of himself as one of the most powerful dragons in the clan - even though he has never truly been involved in combat. His skills lie much more heavily in being charismatic and convincing others of his high achievements; he has many friends within the clan, and is known for telling incredible stories. Although he thinks highly of himself, he is incredibly friendly and easy to get along with, and much more talkative than his father.

Unlike most guardians, Nightshade believes that he has two charges instead of one - his two lifemates, Stardust and Moonbeam. The rest of the clan has no idea how Nightshade came to be with these two mirrors; all they know is that, one day, he returned from hunting on his own with the two beauties at his side, and they've been together ever since. He trades off mating cycles with the two of them, creating a clutch of eggs and then remaining with that particular mate until the hatchlings are old enough to get their bearings, before switching to the nest of the other and producing another clutch. For this reason, Nightshade has a great many young. His mother, Rivermoon, isn't exactly pleased with Nightshade's arrangement with his two mates - this is likely due to her jealousy that Firestorm had a clutch of eggs with another dragon before her.

Nightshade generally does not get jealous of other dragons and their abilities, with a single exception - Sparkstripe. This is because she was trained in combat by the three most formidable fighters in the clan, Firestorm (his own father), Embersky, and Opaline, while he was not. His envy over Sparkstripe's obvious talent for combat has led to a mislike of her, which she does not quite understand.
