“I see that we have differences. May we together become greater than the sum of both of us.”

Surak founded Clan Shi’Kahr on an ideal of peace and truth, as his own earliest memories are of clans embroiled in senseless violence over petty disagreements. He carries no happy memories of childhood; only battle, blood, and running. When he found Shi’Kahr’s oasis he could scarcely believe his good fortune, and vowed never to harm another but only offer whatever aid he could. To this end, he also adopted a philosophy that celebrates the differences between dragons, finding beauty rather than conflict in their contrasts.

He led the clan from its small beginnings, when he settled in Shi'Kahr alone, to its current bustling prosperity. After so long as its leader, though, he found himself exhausted by his duties - while leadership had previously entailed advice and guidance, with the occasional mediation of disputes, it was now a near-constant stream of requests for trade and alliance, negotiation and persuasion, micromanagement of the clan's resources. Rather than run himself and the clan into the ground, he deferred to T'Pau, his longtime second-in-command, ceding the leadership to her.

Surak became the clan's justiciar soon afterward, allowing him to return to the kind of leadership he was best suited for - measured evaluations of character, and the ability to make hard decisions for the benefit of the clan.

♥ T'PAU (a dear friend) Surak trusts her more deeply than any other - enough to pass on the clan's leadership once he felt his time was over.

♥ T'VRAN (his daughter) Surak enjoys the stories she tells of the clan; humorous and humanizing, they allow him a different view of clanmates who are often respectful to the point of distance when around him.

♥ DENAK (his child) Surak knows the clan's hatchlings are in good hands with Denak looking after them.

♡ INARA (a friend & advisor) As the eldest in the clan, Inara offers a unique perspective that Surak values highly when passing judgement.

♡ SOVAL (a friend) Soval is one of Surak's favorite conversational partners, always willing to entertain a philosophical debate.
