Frankly, the day that Lucilla was overthrown was the best day of Haniel's life. It was the door for freedom that he had been searching for for what felt like centuries. Thought it hurt him to do so, he could bear her abuse no longer. He was done searching for the pretty young thing he had known so many years ago, optimistic and eager to start a family and clan.
He'd have to come to terms with the fact that the dragon he fell in love with was dead, and had left behind a withered, hateful and violent tyrant.
Thankfully the time on his own did him so good. He was able to come to terms with what happened, and form a new sense of self.
Noriko, bless her, had welcomed him back with open arms. She gave him a lavish room and, at the request of the doctor, even requested that young Lace attend to his needs.
