Ethrelda
Matriarch/Owner
—–

When she left her clan she was the most likely to succeed. She was everything they wanted: strong, fast, a mind for battle. Like many guardians, when the guardianship desire calls it is irresistible. The process of finding something to guard is a deeply personal one. Many guardians mistake their feelings for those of guardianship, and so is what happened with Ethrelda. She joined a smugglers ring working for the Shadowbinder. She thought her cargo was her charge. Near the end of the mission, as they were reaching The Tangled Wood, they were ambushed by a Light raiding party and Ethrelda, ignoring sensibilities, rushed a Light dragon putting on a blinding spell. She got the full force of it and plummeted to the ground.
In the brush of the shadowed woods Ethrelda woke to a blurred and darkened sight. She had been partially blinded. She succumbed to great sadness as she figured her warrior days were over. Who would want a blinded guardian as their protector?
It was then in her darkest hour a small voice asked if she was okay. It belonged to Lumi, another young dragon who recently left his home. He took care of the guardian and they formed a great bond. After a time they found other dragons, lost souls wandering The Tangled Wood for whatever inexplicable reason. Together they made a place any dragon could call home, "The Blind Recluse".
When Vitra told Ethrelda of her visions it did not take long for the matriarch to agree. Beast Clans had been popping up everywhere they turned, more dragons were turning up injured. It was time to leave their beloved dark forest.
Nowadays Ethrelda is trying to transition from a more traditional matriarchal role to the owner of a resort.
