HUNTRESSSTOICALPROTECTIVE

You never expected adopting hatchlings to be such a frightening experience. The tiny spiral babies gleefully frolic about the nest, but their mother eyes you icily. You manage to crack a smile when one of the triplet hatchlings knocks into your side and asks, "D'ya wanna play?" The mother glares. Your smile disappears.

Despite the icy treatment you're being given, you can't help but fall for the hatchlings scampering around. As politely as you can muster, you ask if any of the hatchlings are prepared to join your caravan, but your voice quivers and cracks. There's a pause. The air freezes. "Perhaps in ten years," she answers.

You search for the courage to haggle, spitting and spluttering while the nocturne looks at you all the more skeptically. It seems like an eternity before something happens to save you; a robin-colored spiral makes his way over, grinning brightly. "Somalia! Shoving rocks down travelers' throats again, I see?"

This only serves to frighten you more. The spiral must see the way your face pales, and he bumps your shoulder playfully. "Ah, just kidding. She only did that one time," he says with a wink. "So which hatchling were you considering?"

You point to the active little fellow that asked you to play earlier. Now the hatchling is racing his friends, using his undersized wings to lift him an inch or so off of the ground, only to fall back down to the ground immediately. Something changes in his friendly demeanor as he watches his children, but he nonetheless gives you a grin. "He's a cute little fellow, isn't he?"

You nod, asking once more about the adoption, hoping that the ten-year wait period was just Somalia's overbearing nature. The spiral hums, then offers, "How about twenty? I was thinking thirty, but that may be a bit too far away from now..."

As you turn around to leave, you see Somalia crack a soft grin of triumph. She pulls a hatchling back to her side as it attempts to follow you out.

Somalia came from a mighty lair in the Snowsquall Tundra, where she worked as a huntress in her clan. She still hunts today, of course — and perhaps is more skilled than her mate Morocco. Nonetheless, most of Somalia's time is taken up nesting, and while her stony expression rarely budges, she has an incredibly soft spot for each and every one of her many hatchlings. Should you ever want to see her smile, simply watch her with her children.

Morocco can often manage to make her crack a smile as well, and while her fondness for Morocco is less apparent, she does adore his antics and his boundless kindness. She loves him so much that, mere weeks after they met, she willingly gave up the luxury she had in the Southern Icefield to join him in the Windswept Plateau.

Somalia's move to Corona has certainly been an adjustment. Somalia tolerates Petal at best, and the nocturne finds the fae's obsession with beauty to be not only superfluous but also very superficial. The problem, however, does not stem from the dragons' conflicting values; rather, neither dragon is particularly good at communication, so misunderstandings and arguments are inevitable. Despite these difficulties, however, the atmosphere of Petal's humble little lair is perfect for her and her hatchlings, as the Windswept Plateau is as tranquil and quiet as it can be vibrant and playful.

As soon as the two dragons moved in together, they took to the nest. Somalia never expected to enjoy motherhood; after all, in her former clan, she was a vicious huntress who basked in the thrill of a hunt in the Boreal Wood. Yet her first nest of triplets melted her icy demeanor, and as soon as they were old enough to leave the fold of her wing, she yearned for more hatchlings. The couple has tried countless times to urge their offspring to leave the nest and travel across the world, but the parents themselves reject these notions as soon as they propose them.

Indeed, Somalia is a wonderful mother. Her hatchlings inherit odd traits from their parents' quite opposite personalities, and often the vastly different whims and wishes of each child clash and end up in sibling rivalries. Somalia's matter-of-fact attitude allows her to manage her children's squabbles in a matter of minutes. Even more important, Somalia knows each child intimately, and there is not one hatchling that does not adore her in return. Perhaps no one would have guessed her unprecedented talent for maternity — although Morocco often claims that he knew that from the moment he saw her. (In fact, much like Petal, Morocco simply thought that Somalia was pretty.)

Despite her difficulties, Somalia considers Corona to be her permanent home. The atmosphere of Corona is perfect for her and her hatchlings, as the Windswept Plateau is as tranquil and quiet as it can be vibrant and playful.

Exalting Somalia to the service of the Windsinger will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
