Biography
Shaya Potion Maker - TRAIT | TRAIT | TRAIT |
The Viridian Labyrinth. Home of the Gladekeeper, her children, and perhaps the most valuable herbs in all of Sornieth. Herbs that Snowstorm was cluelessly walking over while searching for them. Three weeks before, he had gone to the tallest mountain in Sornieth to collect the pure snow there. Two weeks before, he had narrowly escaped a skirmish with a Plague clan crazed by the disease they shared to collect mushrooms. Just a week before, he had dove into the ocean and fought a siren for the pearl she was hiding. All to make a potion that was largely experimental. So why was finding a couple of plants on the floor so difficult? Shaya continued to trudge through the dense foliage when he heard the slight murmur of conversation. Pausing, he strained his ears to hear the sound over the shrill caws of birds and the buzzing of insects flying through the humid air. Who was all the way out in the middle of the jungle? ••• |
- - - “What we’ll do,” the potion maker said, “Is start building here.” Urri only stared, bewildered, as Carrot sternly said, “No.” “Why?” Shaya asked, hopping onto the branch and laying down comfortably on it. “It’s perfect. Not too much sun, not too much shade. It’s close to all the leaves I’ll use for my potions. What’s wrong with it?” “Well, for one, that branch is way too thin to support your ‘dream home’. Or any home,” the male Fae sighed. “And it’s not even in our territory.” The Wildclaw huffed in frustration, but retorted, “Fine. Then you can decide where we’ll go. Right now, I need to make more potions to help this tree grow more branches.” With that, Snowstorm turned away and hopped off of the branch, his wings spreading out to catch the wind before he slammed into the ground. Flapping his wings, the potion maker glided in the direction of nowhere in particular. |
- - - ‘Be patient’, the Ridgeback had told him. ‘Don’t rush it, wait for when steam starts to come from its mouth,’ he’d said afterward. Ah, he was never one for following orders. Shaya slipped between the small opening between the two rocks, barely avoid the snapping jaws of the hydra. He clutched the tooth tightly, fearful he’d drop it and have to abandon what he’d gone through so much trouble to get. Shaya glanced back and his eyes widened upon realizing how close the hydra was clamping its jaws around his tail. Rummaging through his parcel bag, Shaya muttered to himself as every time he pulled out a bottle, it wasn’t the right one. He glanced up and realizing he had made a wrong turn, leading him to a dead end. At that exact moment, he pulled out the light blue and grey potion he had been looking for. With a grin, the potion maker spun around, cocked his arm back and threw the bottle at the hydra with all his strength. A puff of smoke and the Wildclaw was staring down at the hydra-turned-rabbit. It froze, clearly shocked, before realizing that it was now smaller than its prey. It turned and hopped away while Shaya examined his prize. “Ha! Now I can finally make Urri a Bogsneak so I stop confusing her with Carrot,” he said to himself as he started to find a way out of the cave. Lore by Neraida |
