Harfang
{ har - FANG } Nickname: Fang Clan Chronicler / Historian ♦ AH purchase ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮ = Clan History = important events in the clan's lifetime (last updated 12/24/19) ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ |
A large desk sits on the far side of the room, but it's currently unoccupied. Its owner, a hooded Tundra named Harfang, appears at your side. She says nothing -- indeed, it seems she does not speak at all. But she seems to know what you are here for, and she walks to a nearby shelf. After a minute, she presents you with a long list of significant events in the clan. Some events are cross-indexed to other texts -- it seems you will be able to find them more quickly and also read them if you're looking for more information.
As you begin to scan the list, Harfang walks away. She goes through a doorway, through which you can see what seems to be a round room -- or a tower. You can remain here and look over the clan's abridged history, or you can follow Harfang and view the archives.
Sundial Terrace The Disillusionists' Clan, like most other fledgling clans, was first founded here. Originally established by a pair of Guardians and managed somewhat loosely, they lived a relatively carefree life alongside other fledgling clans serving the Lightweaver. |
- The Guardian Veritas, while on her Search, arrives at the Sundial Terrace. She discovers a large, ruined building, mostly sunk into the earth, and tries to clear away the surrounding vegetation.
- Nachstreiter, another Guardian on a Search, has been exploring the Sundial Terrace for some days now. He encounters Veritas and helps her in her excavations. He briefly considers resuming his Search, but realizes there is no need -- he and Veritas have found their Charge.
- Rhian, an Imperial, leaves her clan in search of a freer life. To lessen the chance of being recognized and brought back by her former clanmates, she attaches herself to Regius, an amateur scholar conducting surveys of Second-Age buildings. The two of them arrive at Veritas' and Nachtstreiter's lair and are allowed to investigate it.
- Regius suggests hiring a terraformer to help refine the place. Polosim, who recently left his Earth clan, is recruited.
- Polosim's excavations uncover an underground swimming pool. Regius finds a damaged chest in the pool and opens it. He acquires a suit of armor that bonds permanently to his body -- among other things....
- While continuing to renovate the lair, Polosim comes across an Imperial lady on the northern shore. She appears to be suffering from some sort of mental trauma and cannot recall her origins. She soon becomes a part of the clan.
- The Lightning dragon, Deune, is brought in to serve as Melufina's caregiver. Deune has memory problems of her own, too, though....
- The clan sends out word that they are looking to recruit other dragons to help with various tasks. The Ridgebacks, Adrastos the gatherer and Hemera the inventorist, are recruited.
- The progenitors' first nest hatches. They name their children Gyordan, Auspice, and Neira.
- Frostlyn arrives from a neighboring clan. Despite some problems with her wings, the Disillusionists readily accept her.
- A Plague clan disbands, and the dragons are sent to other lairs. Claramae and Leviathan arrive together at the Sunbeam Ruins and join the Disillusionists.
- Frostlyn acquires a set of prosthetic wings from the Lightning dragons and becomes one of the clan's leading gatherers.
- Headsman is exiled from his clan. He travels to the Sunbeam Ruins and stops over at the Disillusionists' lair. He grows attracted to Deune and impulsively proposes marriage to her. His integration with the clan is not very smooth, as he is frequently bothered by his Ridgeback neighbors.
- Adrastos and Hemera (with some help from Headsman) become mates. Their first clutch is born soon after. The two sons are trained and sent away for exaltation. The daughter, Touvar, is left behind as the Clan Remembrancer.
- A friendship is forged with an Ice clan. They send three hatchlings (Palmyrrh, Malkiriam, and Hiveriel) to be raised by the Disillusionists.
- The Disillusionists recruit Vanessa as their hatchling caretaker.
- Radiance is recruited as a scout. He has also become attached to Afterglow, an Arcane Skydancer whom he met during his travels, and insists that the Disillusionists take him along, too.
- A wanderer, Pyrea, stumbles into the clan's territory. She seems wary about staying put, but decides to submerge herself in the clan after a little while.
- Polosim's former clan disbands. He returns to Dragonhome to witness the ceremony and returns with Taksidian, a son of two of his former clanmates.
- Frostlyn goes gathering in the Southern Icefield and is followed back home by the young and feisty Rofthoffer.
- In an effort to know other Flights better, the clan recruits Nebuchadnezzar, a Water Snapper. They also recruit a budding Arcane mage, Alberge.
- Metalicana intrudes on the clan's territory. After a hostile confrontation, he is induced to join the clan as a low-ranking guard.
- The clan hires Roxley to serve as a possible Shadow Ambassador. The plan is scrapped after they realize she ran away from home to be a fashion designer.
- While out gathering, Rofthoffer comes across a lair frozen by a strange, half-made machine. He accidentally disrupts the machine, and the lair springs back to life. To avoid backlash from his clan, the machine's inventor, Crystaline, asks to join the Disillusionists.
- Alberge proves to be too unstable an Arcane mage. Afterglow is uninterested in learning magic seriously, and so the Disillusionists recruit Jubilant, a Spiral with some rather explosive abilities....
- Nebuchadnezzar, now grown, begins seeking a mate. A Snapper lady, Makeda, hears of this. She travels from the Hewn City to meet him. Although she actually left because she enjoys traveling, she is warmly received in the Disillusionists' clan and decides to stay after getting to know Nebuchadnezzar better.
- A rebellious harpy prince, Soran, escapes from his home. He is rescued by the Disillusionists after various tribulations and opts to submerge himself in the clan, eventually becoming Makeda's familiar and Nebuchadnezzar's friend.
- The clan recruits Tantris, an Arcane scholar, to be their school headmaster and leading bard.
- More gatherers are needed as well. Anastasia, an outcast Coatl from the Scarred Wasteland, joins the clan as a hunter.
- Jubilant continues his studies, but frequently runs into trouble. Ophelite joins the Disillusionists from a fellow Light clan. She serves as Jubilant's bodyguard.
- Pyrea's past catches up to her, somewhat, when a young Skydancer named Pharrix tracks her down. He is interested in learning healing and shamanic arts from her, and is accepted as her apprentice.
- Headsman and Radiance continue being uninterested in ambassadorship. The Disillusionists recruit Levanter, a Wind Skydancer trained for diplomatic duties.
- After a series of strange encounters that include disappearing objects, the clan uncovers the existence of Euclid, a dragon able to change his colors and patterns to camouflage himself.
- Karamat joins the clan as their Ambassador to the Water Flight.
- Crystaline takes on an apprentice, a young Skydancer named Yulalie. She soon becomes more interested in another Skydancer, Xavier, who joins the clan shortly after she does. The two of them eventually become a mated pair.
- Kisharaq, a Ridgeback, joins the clan as a Vault Guard. He and Roxley quickly bond over their fondness of arts and crafts (not to mention each other).
Mirrorlight Promenade The clan continued to grow and expand its territory, until eventually they claimed part of the Mirrorlight Promenade as their own. Yet they did not stay here very long, as they soon found themselves in need of more space and allies. |
- To increase their gathering profits, the clan recruits Sturmwelle, an old fighter, to train warriors and fight alongside their clan.
- The Disillusionists anticipate their first winter holidays as a clan. They recruit Nicauliah to organize and oversee their festivities.
- Metalicana starts pushing for an expedition to go and find a spirit he encountered before he joined the clan. No one is interested in helping him.
- After performing a small service for a Shadow clan, the Disillusionists welcome one of its members, Haruspex, to serve as their Shadow ambassador.
- The fighters' forays into Rainsong Jungle are interrupted when they discover an old temple. They accidentally reawaken a dragon claiming to be a king, plus his reticent, beautiful queen.
- After their encounter with the spectral dragons from the jungle, the Disillusionists ask around for a spirit seer. They are joined by Amaroth, who claims to be one.
- Metalicana bullies Amaroth into helping him find and capture the "forest spirit" he saw before. He and Amaroth are successful -- somewhat -- when the spirit follows them home.
- After a shipwreck, a young Ridgeback washes up on the shore. She is unable to find her clan and opts to stay with the Disillusionists.
- Filou is entrusted to the Disillusionists by another Light clan. He stows away in Frostlyn's bag while she is on a gathering expedition and is briefly lost. When he comes back, he is...not quite the same....
- After being turned away by dragons of the Viridian Labyrinth (where she wishes to study horticulture), Amrita arrives at the Sunbeam Ruins, looking for a place to work. She is hired by the clan as a gardener.
- Amaroth reveals that he was unable to see spirits all along. The clan takes this in stride and recruits a genuine spirit seer, Rahenna, to help manage the strange entities who are now attached to the clan.
- Another Light clan disbands and its members are sent to find new homes. Kyuchan, an Afflicted Coatl, finds a place in the Disillusionists' clan.
- The Disillusionists conclude an alliance with Clan Elysia. In celebration of this, the clan exchanges hatchlings. Frostlyn and Rofthoffer's son, Awyrygaeaf, is sent to Elysia, while the Elysian progenitors' son, Melqart, joins the Disillusionists.
Hewn City When the Disillusionists decided to relocate again, the only place with enough land to accommodate them was the Hewn City. It was here that they faced many interesting trials -- and also acquired many new and interesting clan members as well as allies. |
- The clan relocates to the Hewn City. After some time, they manage to convince a rogue Bogsneak, Taueret, to help drain away the water so they can settle near the coast.
- A mysterious Tundra named Harfang appears on the clan's territory. She appears to be studying the Hewn City. She accepts a place in their clan and becomes their chronicler and historian.
- Due to the increase in clan members, Pyrea decides to seek out another apprentice. She accepts Lahamu, a Spiral from a Wind clan.
- Hiveriel and Shantung's first nest is raided by a Beastclan party. Two of the eggs are retrieved, but the other is lost. It is later rescued and hatched by another Light clan. The baby, Hope, is adopted by two of the clan's dragons.
- The clan is attacked by a monster of the Hewn City, a Shade-possessed Bogsneak. They manage to subdue him and eliminate the Shade fragment, and they learn that his name is Apophys.
- Due to some differences with other dragons, Starblaze leaves his clan. He drifts around for a bit before showing up in the Disillusionists' lair. The Disillusionists are too bemused to kick him out.
- Dante, a Bogsneak, joins the clan as an impresario.
- Kisharaq recruits Mercator as another Vault Guard.
- The Midnight Gamblers' Den starts searching for homes to foster their hatchlings. On Clan Elysia's recommendation, they make contact with the Disillusionists and send an Imperial, Amaryllis, to be raised by them.
- The Disillusionists adopt Bougainville, a Bogsneak who seems to have trouble dressing himself....
- While exploring the Hewn City, the clan uncovers a being who seems to be more machine than dragon....
- To thank the Disillusionists for saving him, Apophys' parents' clan sends over another Bogsneak, East.
- Briar is hatched in another Light clan. She is trained for diplomatic and administrative duties and is soon recruited by the Disillusionists.
- The Midnight Gamblers, pleased with the Disillusionists' treatment of Amaryllis, send over a gift that turns out to be quite useful, in more ways than one....

- After being hounded by a most peculiar bird, Makeda is astounded to see it transform into a Bogsneak named Urshula.
- The Disillusionists are approached by the Clan of the Dead, who has heard their stories. After a somewhat uneasy conversation between Nachtstreiter and Reoni the Master Teller, an alliance is declared.
- While out gathering, Amaroth runs into a deranged Pearlcatcher who attempts to steal his pearl. He manages to get away and arrives home safely. The other Disillusionists are skeptical of him at first, until they start hearing similar stories from other clans.
Their investigation leads them to the Hidden Haven. Both clans agree that the "Pearlsnatcher" is a menace, and after an interview with Acolight, the Disillusionists ally themselves with the Hidden Haven.
- A crow arrives with an invitation for Touvar. It leads her to the Cathedral of Eyes, where she watches a play that tells her what became of her brother, Razon. In gratitude for the Cathedral's attempts to aid him, the Disillusionists offer to be their allies, and an alliance is formed.
- Following the news of Razon's death (and the realization that her own exalted loved ones might be in danger), Yulalie becomes more withdrawn. She eventually settles into a new role as the clan's most industrious (or obsessed...) scavenger.
- The progenitors hatch their second clutch of eggs. Their second son, Gloaming, is sent to live with Clan Elysia while his sister remains in the lair. Clan Elysia also sends over a pair of Imperial siblings: Poseidros and Tiferet.
- Tantris inflicts an enchantment upon Laurant after she swears too many times in class. The enchantment censors her words with celestial music and is intended to be temporary; however, since the entire clan likes the effects so much, it winds up becoming permanent.
- The Cathedral of Eyes sends a troubled Skydancer to live with the Disillusionists. She arrives at her new home with a pair of peculiar Bogsneak brothers to keep her company.
- The decaying Ningyou is found hiding out in one of the Hidden Haven's storerooms. After a short discussion, he is sent to live with the Disillusionists in the hope that they will be able to help repair his body or craft a new one for him.
- A headstrong young Guardian follows Yulalie home. She stubbornly stays in the lair and is soon named Ashes for the color of her scales.
- Leviathan leaves the Disillusionists. He soon finds a home with another fledgling clan.
Beacon of the Radiant Eye The Disillusionists currently reside near the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. They came here by way of a power struggle between two of their Arcane dragons, Alberge and Jubilant. The lair was uprooted during the conflict, and it came to rest safely near the Beacon when Alberge was pacified. |
- While out scavenging with Yulalie, Ashes discovers a recently looted temple and a would-be looter, Origenes, still clinging to life inside. She manages to resuscitate him, and he becomes her Charge.
- A young Bogsneak named Rajin appears at the entrance to the lair, claiming that she was led by a vision. She is allowed to stay, and Karamat takes her on as an apprentice.

- While trading, Mara takes on a passenger, an appraiser named Camillus. She also rescues a castaway, Floe, whom Camillus grows attached to. After being rejected by his home clan, Camillus and Floe find a home with the Disillusionists.
- After some discussion, various dragons leave the clan in search of more comfortable lives or brighter opportunities. They include Ophelite, who changes her name before leaving; East, Apophys' former clanmate; and Zeno, Crystaline's assistant.
- Crystaline travels to the Shifting Expanse to find a new assistant. He recruits a young engineer, Karmanh, who joins the clan alongside one of his inventions, an automaton named Carousel.
- A new insect-catcher, Rickart, joins the clan. He is put to work alongside Briar the entomologist.

- After Pharrix's departure, Pyrea recruits Sheol, a surgeon, to replace him.
- Strange arrivals: a crippled Skydancer named Minuit tumbles out of a rip in the air. He explains that he escaped from a "garden" where he was held captive for some years. The portal he used also reveals itself as a creature in the shape of a dragon, a being calling itself Exodus.

- Odd bamboo growths pop up on the clan grounds, particularly around the building site of Melqart's restaurant....
Beacon of the Radiant Eye (Post-Bounty of the Elements) Like other Light clans, the Disillusionists were unsettled by the Bounty of the Elements. Their lair, being near the coast, escaped much of the destruction wrought by the rampaging Emperor. The dragons quickly rebounded and were soon ready to take advantage of the recent changes and events. |
- Wishing to explore the changing world, Cosimo and Urshula leave the clan.
- The clan discovers that Harfang has created a worldlet within the lair. She uses it to store archived documents. Because of the size of the worldlet (more like a tower), it is called the Tower of Drabel.

- Another experiment by Serewood results in the creation of Shevirah from a dead Pearlcatcher's pearl.
- A letter arrives from Origenes. In addition to the usual pleasantries, he includes a description of a mysterious oracle, though he concludes that she is probably just a fairy tale.
- The clan hires Rhaplanca to help streamline their commercial operations. In addition to helping the workers organize their businesses, she also launches an advertising campaign to bring in customers, new clan members, skilled workers, and tenants to lease spaces in the Commercial Wing.

The Advent of the Ancients When rumors that Ancient breeds were reappearing began circulating throughout Sornieth, the Disillusionists eagerly awaited new developments and information. They resolved to work together with the Ancients, and soon members of these breeds were welcomed into the Disillusionists' lair. |
- Hiveriel and other Ice dragons make contact with a long-secluded clan of Gaolers. They arrange to meet the clan to forge an alliance; however, due to a recent mutiny, the lair is empty except for an abandoned nest. The Disillusionists take the only surviving egg back to the lair, where it hatches into Junior. Unable to figure out how to raise the strange hatchling, the Disillusionists enlist the aid of an Ancient-breeds scholar, Vincent, who adopts the child and raises him as his own.

- Zumra joins the clan as a light courier, specializing in speedy, short-distance deliveries.

- Inspired by Zastruga's success with the DAGGERs, Olympe forms DAILIES (Disillusionists-Affiliated Instructors and Lecturers in Education and Sciences), a group of dragons who teach skills and fields including and beyond most normal classroom subjects. One of her first recruits is Clariel, a rather manic swimming instructor.

His wards, Millefiori and Mellifluous, grow to adulthood in the clan and take on jobs as a healer and a jester, respectively.
- Xilfaro joins DAILIES as a dance instructor.
- Following a disastrous incident involving her younger brother and a demon, Djakaia enlists the spiritologists' aid in ridding the Grove of Memory of hostile spirits.
