Pinvar settled above the clouds her wings beating to the rhythm of her heart as she settled into a peaceful quiet. Folding her wings she dropped from the sky, slowly adjusting their fold as she began to spiral in a planned and delicate dance. The blip of new magical energy in her course was only detected in time for her to avoid a head on collision with another dragon. Instead a chest first collision occurred. Despite the size difference Pinvar effectively knocked the air out of the large dragon, a Ridgeback, she notes to herself through the haze of the dulling ache as they both became ever closer to the ground. As she successfully corrected and slowed her decent worry ebbed in her chest for the other dragon, only to diminish as with minimal grace the dust coloured ridgeback corrected it's wings pitch and began to rise once more. "heh, 'hat was close", her new acquaintance chuckled to her, "ya nev'r think of lookin' up for oth'rs, names Kostry." Pinvar had introduced herself at the lack of hostile energy from Kostry, she had informed him he was trespassing; he had been apologetic. They kept talking, more then one would expect from strangers. As the day dimmed to night Kostry offered a proposal; "Ya'r a smart kid Pinvar, we could use someone like ya back home". Compared to the Arcane territory she had grown up in, 'home' in the Shifting Expanse wasn't quite what she would expect. "Lot's of sand" she had complained to another Dragon of Arcane heritage, Atimine, who had responded unexpectedly, "Yeah, I can't imagine what it would be like to live anywhere else". It would turn out that only 3 of 8 Arcane Dragons actually knew their deities land. "Well, there are the crystalspine reaches," Pinvar had explained to hatch-lings who had expressed interest in hearing stories, "that's where clans start out, but I grew up in the observatory itself" Something inside her had warmed as the eyes of the small dragons widened with awe, despite likely not knowing what the observatory was. As days turned into weeks Pinvar found herself at the foot of their leaders perch, the large Ridgeback having requested her presence. She had expected to be instructed to leave or worse, after all, her arrival had been touch and go among most of the clan inhabitants. "I understand you have been instructing our hatch-lings of the Arcane flight," as she spoke Pinvar nodded, "And that you have proved to represent your species well in communication and delegation?" Pinvar nodded again as the clans leader looked at her, her emotions difficult to read. "Then, tonight I will announce you among our clan as an educator, you will be charged with raising our young, however you will need these". Shock rippled through her body as she made out the scrolls of Lightning Flight lore, "okay" was all that escaped as a grin spread over her face. |
