LEPIDOPTERA
she/her ☼ heterosexual polyamorous ☼ historian

lepidoptera is an entirely straight-forward dragon. every question has an answer, and more often than not said answer can be found in a book- hence her chosen career. she displays a blunt sort of intelligence that often reflects as pessimistic to others. with her sharp mind and logical inclination, lepi has a tendency to see the darker-but more realistic- side of any situation. such a trait is a frequent source of frustration for her mates, kestrel and coreopsis, who each live life with attitudes far more laid-back than her tight-laced idiosyncrasies. even with their differences, lepi’s fondness for the pair knows no bounds.

being a historian, much of the work involved in lepi’s position is completed in silence. besides the occasional teaching session or town visit, studying, organizing, and perusing artifacts are all fairly reserved activities. she quite enjoys her role, however, especially her studies surrounding ancient music and culture. when she performs (and she certainly does; it’s nigh impossible not to have some sort of musical ability after being raised within songbird keep, after all) it’s most often of classical songs and mythology. additionally, lepi is also known to be a soft-spoken dragon typical of her quiet work, with a voice as light and graceful as the skydancer herself. each tune she carries gains an ethereal quality, merely by virtue of being sung with her mouth.

thanks to her level-headed demeanor, lepi stands as the reasonable anchor to her more impulsive triad; only someone as rational as herself could be capable of tampering down kestrel and coreopsis’ most chaotic behaviors. such a accomplishment has given her a certain presence not to be understated. it’s not uncommon for lepi to enter a room and have it fall just noticeably quieter, a reflection of both the soft calm she exudes and her reputation as a notoriously strong scolder. raise your voice just an octave too high, and in an instant lepidoptera will be set in a tirade about proper etiquette and the dangers of waking hatchlings- with a good dose of clan-motherly “i’m not upset, just disappointed” flair, of course. kill them with kindness, as they say, and lepi’s characteristic gentleness is only a facet of her strong-willed personality. despite her relative youth, the historian is one of antiope’s primary advisors, and has just as valuable leadership skills as the head matriarch herself.
