Since a very young age, Ishkur was generally a loner and had reservations about mangling with the other youngsters. He found it difficult to make friends, and rather than hang out with others he often went to the library, to his workstation to play around with some of his mechanical invention or was just looking place to have some peace.

One particular day, Ishkur had to leave his home clan to look for something new. Even if he loved his family and job the Skydancer knew, he had the leave it all behind. He always hated the feeling of being useless and, the young one always felt a deep need to prove his worth to the world around him. His sometimes quite arrogant behavior was a convenient front to do so.

Although the young lad was a bit socially awkward and tended to stay on his own, he does not dislike other dragons. Instead, Ishkur is fiercely independent and wary of others who approach him, thinking the only meaning behind their actions were ulterior motives. And Ishkur hated the thought of being controlled or taken advantage of.

After visiting a number of clans with a newly found friend back in his homelands, Ishkur decided to settle down in the Clan of Àidhear with him. Everyone had welcomed him in with open arms without trying to press him regarding his traveling reasons.

As he was accustoming herself more and more, Étaín suddenly admitted the young dragon into her "Ambassador Training". At first Ishkur was quite dumfounded about the whole matter--he saw himself as being prideful and arrogant, not overly humble and therefore not suited of becoming an Ambassador of any Clan!

Ishkur had never been quite self-conscious about enforcing his principles or beliefs on others. He just didn't voice it infront of them too loudly. But it seemed like Étaín saw great potential in him. She noticed that Ishkur was never above helping other dragons who are really in need, and that he appeared to have a soft spot for hatchlings and those with a similar mind as his. In addition, he showed signs of being really protective of those he cares for. The young dragon seemed to know that others might not appreciate his actions or wouldn't thank him later, but he would still use any means possible to achieve his goals to benefit the greater good. This way of acting sometimes caused others to misunderstand Ishkur's motives and motivation.

Still, they were traits Étaín was looking for in her trainees and therefore tried to make Ishkur into one of her dragons.
