Philomena

Most modern clanmembers, both of the original clan and The United Mages of Shadow, barely know Philomena past their name and Iliya's stories of them. They came into the original clan alongside their mate Iliya by word of Cirrus. The two mages wanted nothing more to settle down in a growing clan and to care for their trio of hatchlings. Philomena themselves were born of a seasoned traveler and and a flamboyant traveling bard. The two were affectionate and supportive of all of their children, yet remained long distance in their own relationship. Philomena never enjoyed traveling back and forth over at times massive distances across shadow territory, though they loved being in the presence of their parents and siblings. Philomena had always longed for a peaceful and secure life free of the need for long and strenuous travel.

Philomena also had an incredible talent for shadow magic. They had always formed a passion for the craft of illusion in the form of performance. They adored the glamour and presence of her mother's performances, and was encouraged especially by her to keep at it and pursue their abilities. Philomena loved to use their magic to create fantastical effects and imitations of natural phenomena. Their most favored example of which was a roaring illusory waterfall, complete with leaping fish and a rumble of mana that made it seem all the more real. It was their magic that attracted the eyes and respect of Iliya, a nobledragon and fellow mage.

He was swift to compliment them on their craft, and from then they built a natural friendship forged on common interest. The two also found that they shared many of their dreams-especially since Iliya wished for a large family and Philomena adored the idea of living in luxury whilst studying magic with her best friend. It surprised no one that the two grew involved with eachother.

They were eventually involved and had children, which spurred outrage in the noble court. Philomena was a commoner. No matter Iliya's love for them, they had produced children of polluted blood. The court was to have her and her halfblood children exiled, but Iliya would not stand for it. He could not change the minds of the nobility around him, but refused to leave his hatchlings without knowing their father. He gave up his titles to be with them and to help them find a new and accepting place. That was when they found Shamira's clan in its early days. A small, safe clan with strong leaders was more than appealing to them and they were happily accepted. They even met Lorelei, Ilya's first arranged mate. There were no hard feelings between them since the relationship ended on good mutual terms, and Philomena and Lorelei actually became quite good friends. And then came the raid.

Philomena fought to use their illusions in an attempt to divert the maren from their young hatchlings, but they cast a powerful shock of electricity, obliterating the facades and striking them heavily wounded. They remained alive, yet on the verge of death. The last things they saw were their mate, best friend, and children rushing to defend them. Due to the magic swirling around what was left of them, Liora gave one last ditch effort to save them- by binding their soul to the illusions Philomena cherished so much. It was not favorable, but the most desperate thing she could think of to save them. It is still unknown whether her tactics succeeded. Philomena merged with their lingering magic and faded in a curl of smoke. Since then, they were never seen again. Iliya still believes he can feel their magic and even see them in the midst of rolling fog, yet his words are all that is concrete that remains of them.

They/Them and she/her, only interested in men. Deceased, but would only want to be with Iliya if they were alive.
