Biography
Tender of Nests
Gentle - Thoughtful

Sasha is the sister to Sax, the warm and social Snapper beekeeper, and to a stranger may seem her opposite in many respects. While Sax is almost always talking and laughing, Sasha is reserved and at times can be seen as sad - though, in truth, Sasha isn't in the slightest. Sasha is either deep in thought or in a daydream or aloof around strangers and because of that considered to be reclusive or shy, when in reality Sasha is mute and - though she loves spending time with others - she has long grown frustrated of trying to communicate with those she doesn't know well. Sometimes she's tried to sign or write to them, but others quickly excuse themselves because they don't want to make the extra effort to talk to her and Sasha is hurt, or other times they ask her annoying questions that she's heard a hundred times ('I'm sure you can talk if you just try really, really hard!'). But to those who truly pursue trying to talk to her they'll find she has a wondrous sense of humor and a fair bit of wit and is quite similar to her sister after all. She takes her duties tending the nests and helping with young hatchlings very seriously. Along with helping incubate nests, Sasha helps parents with hatchlings that are weak, sick or underdeveloped. These eggs and hatchlings are her life and she would do anything to help them grow up strong and healthy, to pull through the bitter nights when they seem to be slipping away.
Though she and her sister originally thought that her vocal chords were underdeveloped and went to various magical healers to get them healed, it was realized that her mutism was the result of a curse cast upon her when she was still in the egg. It was a complicated curse, too, and even the most powerful healers couldn't sort it out. They finally went to a reputable and accomplished warlock in desperation, but he gravely informed them that this curse had countless layers and some of the magic was even foreign to him. However, he was able to find the weakest part of the curse and destroy it - giving Sasha the ability to sing. She couldn't form clear words, but her voice was high and sweet and she was able to sing beautifully. It turned out to be an invaluable gift, for Sasha ended up caring for eggs and hatchlings that were too young to speak. She became determined to protect the defenseless and overlooked so that they wouldn't suffer what she did. She also has a gentle touch and a comforting aura about her that soothes even the most anxious mothers. The most common situation is that a large clutch was born with healthy, boisterous hatchlings - and one very weak and needy one that the mother can't give enough extra care for while still raising the clutchmates. Stressed, worried and feeling guilty the mother tries to care for all of them at the same time, but the hatchling only weakens. This is when Sasha steps in and with a gentle, promising smile takes the hatchling and cares for it until it has the strength to return to its family. She's suffered a lot of heartbreak when, despite everything she, Poinsettia and the mother has done the hatchling perishes, but those times when the hatchling pulls through and thrives make it worth it.
She often takes the hatchlings out into the forest so the parents or others in the tribe aren’t distressed by the cries. On some nights, a traveler that was staying at the Tribe would be too restless to sleep and, whilst wandering the forests nearby, they would hear an ethereal sound. Looking around, they would see a pale lantern glow in a large tree and, as they flew silently towards it, they would hear feeble cries. in that tree was the Skydancer they thought was a recluse, singing for one of the tiniest and sickliest hatchlings they'd ever seen. As she sang tears would flow from her eyes - of desperation and of hope that this hatchling would pull through the night and grow up strong and healthy. The hatchling might calm and, still singing a wordless melody, she would feed it and rock it in her beautiful golden wings until it slept. The weary Skydancer would finally lift her head, smiling with relief, and notice the traveler, the intruder on this peaceful scene. The two of them would silently meet eyes as if sharing a deep secret, and then at once the traveler realized that their assumptions were deeply wrong.
Sasha is good friends with Poinsetta, the healer, for the countless times they have worked together to care for sick hatchlings. Pascal is one of the first dragons she turns to when she’s grieving loss and she’ll accompany her on walks. She is also on good terms with Willowind. The aloof dryad has silently watched over her many a times when she was out in the night with all her attentions focused on the little one she was with.
