CARNIE
The Red Knight

Carnie was born and raised in the Tangled Wood to parents that were both loyal disciples of the Mother. His heritage is often questioned by those that don't know better, however. Though a loyal servant of Shadow through and through, his personality does not reflect the usual sly, tricky, and game obsessed persona typical of Shadowlings. But bluntly, Carnie, despite his name, is not much fun. A gruff fellow, he's very quick to anger and quicker to give you a silencing slap across the face with his tail. He doesn't speak much either, well practiced in the art of the occasional confirmatory grunt, and doesn't make much in the way of friends. His main joys seem to hunting, fighting, and sleeping. Carnie is extremely loyal to Morogog and getting on the Clan Leader's bad side is sure to earn a hasty and angry visit from his Red Knight.

His Carmine Sithis is his only true companion. A loyal protector and follower, she uses her magical abilities to aid her dragon in battles. It appears she's the only one capable of even calming him down, aside from the eccentric Morogog of course. Carnie and his familiar met when they were very young, both newly hatched, and have been inseparable ever since. She followed him to the army when he worked as a Shadow Soldier, a carefully trained and specialized force of dragons meant to protect the Shadowbinder's home. Before living with Morogog he spent many long moons patrolling and battling at the edges of the Wood. He has a particular hatred for Light and Plague dragons.

Carnie and Morogog met very early on in the history of the clan and he has been in the Swamp since the beginning. He was the third dragon to join Morogog. The two met when Carnie was performing the Search, the ritual of wandering and searching for a Charge that all guardians experience. When he found the cheery and puppy like Morogog caring for a tiny pink and silver hatchling in the woods, he was immediately drawn to him. Morogog is Carnie's Charge and the dragon will do anything to keep him out of harm's way. Many dragons have attempted to convince Carnie that really Morogog needs little in the way of protection being as capable of ripping things to pieces as he is, but Carnie seems completely blind to Morogog's switches in personality, only able to see the innocent and goofy side of his leader.

RELATIONSHIPS

Carnie and his familiar have an unusually close bond even for a dragon and their familiar.

Carnie considers Morogog his Charge.

Twinkle and Carnie have something of a strained relationship. Though the two often find themselves fighting alongside each other, Carnie does not approve of Twinkle's lazy behavior.
