Biography
Finally, Spring.
A loud rumble escaped the jaws of the large red and black striped lump of fur that had been resting upon the high peaks. Massive feathery wings shot out from the sides of the creature, flexing and stretching the thin membrane connecting wing to body. Bits of snow would be shaken free from the form of the beast as it slowly lifted from the ground.
Belisama.
She was a large female Dragon of the tundra. She had traveled far from her Articish home, walking and flying for days, weeks even! All for one thing. All for this one day! Having arrived rather early, however, she had slept a great deal to pass the time, a sorts of hibernation if you will. But now she was awake, and just in time it would seem!
On a high ledge just below where Belisama had been resting herself was a grassy area with delicate trees scattered about it. Down at this level, there was not much snow and perfect sunlight for the trees to grow and wake from their own winter 'sleep'. On the tips of the branches sat little bulbs. Well, perhaps little was the wrong word for it.. But to a dragon like Belisama they were little!
Slowly, the dragon would climb her way down the peaks, not wanting to beat her wings and disturb the growing buds with the wind she might create from them. Once she had finally made it to the grassy ledge, Belisama would lower herself onto her haunches and waited... Staring silently at the trees. The wind would be the only sound as it lightly blew through the leaves and the dragons thick red fur. It was almost as if time had stopped.
But that was not the case. Time lingered on. Hours passed before suddenly, the buds of the trees began to slowly bloom. Out from their little green hoods would come beautiful pink and red blossoms. They were cherry trees and it was their time to come out and welcome the world into Spring! Such a wonderful sight it was. The female tundra's jowls would curl upwards into a smile as she watched. So enthralled was she that Belisama did not notice that one of the buds had not been a bud at all! A medium sized leafy looking owlbeast had been perched on one of the branches with its wings cloaking the head and body. As the cherry trees blossomed, the owlbeast would slowly waken.
It all happened so fast that Belisama was taken by surprise! The owlbeast would shoot its wings outward in one swift movement, loosing an almost eerie wail of a hoot as its body burst into bloom just as the cherry blossoms had! The creature was not in pain from this. No. It was just such a change that it could not keep from calling out to tell the world! The dragon reared her head back in shock, blinking a few times. The owlbeast, now a beautiful flowery pink folded its wings back to its body and turned to face the watching Dragon.
A curious beast it was. Though... So was Belisama! The two would approach one another, eying up and down. The dragon circled and the owlbeast twisted its head to follow the furry reptile. There was no fear between them and no hostility. The owlbeast had the chance to tear out the dragons eyes when she did not know it was there.. And the dragon had the chance to blast the owlbeast away while it was mid change. Neither had harmed the other when they could have so easily. Because of this, trust had already begun to form between them.
When the sun left the sky that night, Belisama returned to the higher peak. But she was not alone this time! Perched upon her shoulder was the beautiful blossomed owlbeast she had met that very day. The two of them would stay together for the rest of time, if time did allow for such, and returned to the very same spot to watch the cherry trees bloom every year together.
