Biography
Mayuni
"We must show compassion!"
Having lived a relatively uneventful, dull life until she met the Light Sprite Fi, Mayuni worked as a baker out near the Sunbeam Ruins for quite some time. She never felt as important as she knew she could be and was chronically unsatisfied with boring town life. It was only when she went out and took a detour to the local market that her life changed forever as Fi fell from above, slamming into the unsuspecting Snapper.
Quickly, Fi explained how the Shade had been chasing her for quite some time and that she needed Mayuni's help. Mayuni didn't have much time to react before Shade-touched monsters leaped out of the shadows and attacked, forcing Fi and Mayuni to work together. It was there that she was gifted her magical powers. They took a little getting used to, but Mayuni was more than willing to work with them and allow herself to feel truly important for once.
Not long after their (extremely close) victory, Fi explained that she was on her way to the Cloundsong in order to recruit a decent sized clan, called Clan Breezeborne, for her cause. Excited about the prospect of living a meaningful, heroic new life, Mayuni tagged along and the two have been inseparable ever since.
Leader of the Soul Warriors and social butterfly, Mayuni tends to be the one that the Warriors flock to not only for battle advice, but for comfort and general chit-chat. Being the first of the group chosen by the Light Sprite called Fi, she feels responsible for everyone else's well-being. Responsible and kind, the others agreed to let her be the leader of the group at Mayuni's request for a vote. The Snapper didn't want to decide on anything important for the group without fairness and offering the chance to the others. Fi insists that Mayuni is the "true leader" of the Warriors, but the Snapper can't help but feel obligated to let her friends weigh in. She is all about equitable treatment, but truthfully finds the job of leader to be daunting. There have been too many close calls with Shade monsters for Mayuni's comfort though the others insist that they were just a hazard of the job they were chosen for. Should there be a fight where one of her friends is gravely wounded, Mayuni isn't sure she'd be able to keep it together and be a good leader even with support from Fi and the others.
Becoming a Warrior wasn't her first job in the clan, however. She also works as the Clan Diplomat on missions to mend or create relations with other clans both dragon and beast. This gets difficult when she must balance fighting the Shade and maintaining these relationships. Like the others in the group, Mayuni keeps her Soul Warrior identity top secret. She is currently working on creating suitable nicknames for each Warrior so that they don't reveal their identities to strangers by accident, but the process is slow going because no one can agree on anything yet. Do they want to theme themselves after gems? Flowers? Stars? When questioned by Clan Breezeborne's allies and potential trading partners, Mayuni makes up simple lies to disguise herself and protect the others. Each untruth makes her more and more uncomfortable and disheartened. She's been told that it's for the best, but Mayuni just isn't so sure.
At her core, Mayuni is as honest a dragon can get. There's a heavy dark feeling that eats at her each time she finds herself in the position to lie. No amount of reassurance makes it go away and she's grown increasingly concerned. At Fi's warning of the Shade sensing and preying upon his weakness of hers, Mayuni has started to pull away from others, fearing the risk of infection from the ancient monster. Should she find herself drawn by the influence of the Shade, she isn't sure what might happen. Her powers allow for her to draw upon the strength of the gods, but what would happen if the Shade's corruption took away any last trace of her true self and used her to further its cause?
Despite her very valid concerns, Mayuni busies herself with diplomat work when not out with the Warriors. There's hardly a tense situation that she can't assuage with a level head and kind smile. Even the most hesitant or hostile of potential allies find themselves soothed by her presence. What others might call compulsion, Mayuni calls compassion and understanding. "There's nothing we can't do when we work together" is her motto and it certainly holds true when watching her work.
Her weapon in battle is a magical scepter which she uses to cast spells from. While it isn't really needed for her to channel her magical power the gods bestowed upon her, Fi tells her that it focuses it to make it more effective and stronger. Using different movements that resemble elegant dance moves, Mayuni is able to use different abilities and spells so long as she calls them out correctly while moving. At first, she felt a little silly doing all of this in order to fight, but she grew used to it after a while finally becoming an old hand at her intricate twirling and dramatic posing. Secretly, she thinks this is the best part of being a Warrior.
