Tolkien was raised in the clan, a transfer from a friendly wind clan across the map when he was very young. His birth clan was large, an Ancient Lair of the Cloudsong. He is large for his age, and has the familiar to match - his Brilliant Psywurm reaches the base of his chin. His main job is to gather plants and insects for the clan, though he is considered a farmer rather than a gatherer because he also tends to the plants that they mainly get their plant food source from. Siapa comes with him sometimes as she eats most of the clan's plant rations anyway, and loves his familiar so much he's sure one day she'll try and take it for herself. She doesn't seem to bond very well with any creatures, despite her friendly nature. Tolkien doesn't bond well with dragons like Siapa is with familiars, and when Siapa tags along they don't interact at all save for the munching sounds and Siapa murmuring to his psywurm. He keeps a small Owlcat Journal that he writes in every night about his day and his hopes and dreams, along with various other things. He has a habit of focusing on the negatives. He has a crush on Neputija but doesn't dare try to talk to her as he is bad at making conversation. His red mantle around his neck stays there all the time, he never takes it off as he feels safe with it on. Tolkien loves to walk through the forest as he finds it peaceful - he has trouble flying due to a small wing birth defect and his large size. It takes lots of effort for him to get off the ground. He hates talking about the defect and only Marisol knows about it as one night she took him aside and questioned him - she thought his worry signals about an expedition was the starting of a dispute rather than hiding that he was uncomfortable with flying. He is okay with her knowing, she also helps him a bit with his anxiety and is a good friend in general. He is not so desperate for a mate, Marisol tells him that he may be actually a demisexual due to his behavior. Tolkien has two other sisters, one is his twin and the other is a pretty purple Pearlcatcher, both deported to a different lesser clan, a lightning one. He sends them letters ever so often when Temeraire travels that direction, it's not too far but he's scared to go alone. Maybe he'll get around to visiting one day. He is a shy, sweet, and a boy at heart. When he was younger he was teased for his unnaturally big eyes, they're slightly buggy and stick out - he hates them. |
