That Fae insists I write a short description of who I am. I could not tell you why he thinks this is a good idea. It's not as if anyone out there actually cares about who I am, or where I came from. I learned well enough that this world we live in is mostly indifferent.

Still, even with knowing that this effort is likely pointless, I am eager to do it. I suppose it's a chance, possibly my only one, to actually be heard. Even if the pages of this journal are the only thing to see this history, my story, at least it will be recorded somewhere other than my memory.

Let me see, how to summarize such a long life into so few words? I was a normal youth, curious and rambunctious. My parents were loving, warm, as parents should be. They encouraged me to take on the world and provided me with every opportunity to do just that. My youth was one of the only parts of my life that I can honestly reflect back on with any sort of happiness. The memories inspire a smile, even after such a stretch of time between then and now. It's odd, how a simple grin can tingle. The relaxation of stiff cheeks.

Being a Wind Dragon, naturally, I had a strong desire to explore, so the moment I came of age I left my home. You could say that was my first mistake. My second was ignoring the sound advice to steer clear of the fighting to the south. At the time the Ice and Arcane clans were in a bitter battle for dominance along the border of the Southern Icefield and the Starfall Isles. Being young and extremely foolish, I headed straight for the battle.

Curiosity. It killed the cat.

Long story short, I was captured. My eager desire to explore and discover was crushed the moment I left the gate. My captors sold me to support the war effort and from there, I ended up bouncing from one clan to another as fodder. It was by the grace of the Windsinger that I was never actually exalted.

The last clan I belonged to didn't keep a very good eye on their fodder, thankfully. They enabled my ability to simply walk away. As far as I know, they didn't even bother to look for me. For a brief time after, I enjoyed a bit of freedom to wander. Unfortunately, my youthful days were gone, and with them my desire to wander endlessly around the world. I long for a stable, safe place to call home.

A wistful wish, I know, but one can wish can they not?

Artemi now spends his days peacefully in The Garden. He gathers herbs and plants for tea, and then drinks that tea. He doesn't talk often of his past. The knowledge and experience he acquired makes him an excellent go-to for dragons with any kind of problem. He listens with patience and compassion, offering a piece of wisdom that helps more than he could ever realise. He is well loved by all the dragons of Clan Jardine. The hatchlings in particular love to gamble about him, and so, along with Belladonna, he ends up as a defacto babysitter.
