Her father died in battle before she was born. Her mother found a mate while visiting the Sunbeam Ruins, and came back with him to her clan in the sea clutching Constellation's egg.

Headstrong. Fierce. Prideful. Even has a hatchling, the Skydancer was gutsy enough to bite the ankle of her Guardian caretaker when she refused to let her leave the lair. She wanted to train and fight, not play with shells and toys. But outside was the tumultuous Leviathan Trench. It only took a few lessons from her caretaker before she discovered the abominations that lived in the murky waters. Since then, she learned it was best to think things through first.

She is the opposite of her Coatl half-brother, the leader of their clan. As the older of the two, he inherited the right of leadership from his parents after they died. He was like the ocean: calm as the waves lapping on the shore, but also the deliverer of an unpredictable, raging storm. She secretly wanted to be leader herself, but she loved her brother so much she didn't bother protesting. She became his assistant, anyway.

The only problem was how protective he was over her. No matter how many times she claimed she would be fine, he never let her participate in battle. Not even as a scout, the usual role of Skydancers. Of course she knew it was unsafe. What did he take her as, an idiot? She would rather die as a young hero remembered for generations to come than as an old nobody.

Then, the Tidecaller stopped talking to his oracles. The clan had previously relied on oracles and their divination skills to win wars against the warring Maren clans around them. Their deity's silence created a schism within the clan. One side wanted to confront him in person. The other argued to wait for his return. Constellation decided to follow her brother no matter what he chose, but she was glad he chose the group that wanted to confront the Tidelord himself. In her opinion, that was much more exciting than waiting in the darkness whilst fending off the Maren. But instead of the peaceful separation between the two factions that was originally planned, the torn clan fell apart completely one week after their deity went silent.

Her brother, who was leading their side into battle, had a trident impale him through his heart. The one who threw the weapon went to retrieve it, but before they could, Constellation tackled them into a cliff face. What happened next is too gory to describe, the scene itself shrouded by bloody waters to anyone who looked, but to put it simply, she tore them apart with the might of a great white shark.

She assumed her brother's position and became de facto leader. When the battle was over, she snapped each of her new soldiers into place through vigor and determination. She gathered up the smartest and the most clever to create a plan that would guarantee their victory. The civil war ended the moment Constellation ordered her army to charge into battle after a successful ambush disabled half the opposing side's forces. Her battle cry was itself a force that resonated within the hearts of her warriors, and she hoped it reached her late brother, wherever he was.

Her clan never went on the expedition to confront their deity. Though they were victorious, they lost too many in the final battle. Too many family members, too many friends, it crashed the clan's morale as they tried to rebuild over the course of the next few years. Decades have passed since then. Constellation still yearns for her brother's presence, wishing he had never met his demise at the claws of a traitor, but she would rather let him rest in the seabed.

After she became too old to lead the clan, she retired. Except she never considered herself to be too old; everyone just said she was. She was expected to choose one of her children to take her place, preferably her eldest according to everyone, but instead of choosing a heir properly, she mysterious vanished one day and left her diary behind. Her last entry wrote that whichever one of her children won in an all-out brawl would become the next leader.

She found the Clan of Infinite Dreams during its infancy. Their lair was being rebuilt after a giant storm wrecked it and killed a few of its members. She took pity on them and helped in the reconstruction. After talking to a strange Pearlcatcher by the name of Astrum, who explained the clan's motives to her, she decided to join it. Like Astrum, she became a guard. Protecting the lair's entrance was an easy job, and sometimes very boring. So boring in fact that it surprised her when Ender appointed her Head of Defense. Sure, she had stomped down on the occasional beastclan attack or two, and rallied a successful defense during that one time when a rival clan attacked them by surprise, but otherwise, she felt she hadn't done much to deserve her new position. The only problem was taking orders from someone above her, she had to get used to that again after a long time of being leader herself.

Even now, after it has grown so much, the beachside lair still looks so peaceful. Just a clan loyal to its deity, with many of its members being practitioners of the magical arts seeking to advance their knowledge in the field. She often likes to sing for her clan mates during festivals and the like. Despite old age, her battle prowess is still revered throughout the clan. They say if she had magic while in her prime, she could even defeat the brazen Owen.

But she knows what's behind the amicable facade. This clan feeds off of murder and disguises its crimes as self-defense. It's not unusual to see fighters come back with their clothes covered in blood, carrying the spoils earned from their "victory." She knows another clan has fallen if the gatherers are sent out, saying they're scavenging abandoned lairs. Sure, they were empty, but those lairs weren't abandoned long ago, their former residents forced to flee as a malevolent force ruthlessly intruded upon their homes.

She knows all that, but she doesn't care all that much about it. Stronger clans have tried to invade the clan's lair before. That meant she has to fight, and she lives for that action even when her old bones ache in protest after the battles end. She thought her position in this clan was perfect for both her age and her desires.

In recent times, she's received news that the Tidelord has gone silent again. This time, she realized, he's been silent for more than just a fortnight. Years have passed, and still, the oracles of the Water Flight are yearning for his voice. She ponders as to what conflict might be brewing within her old clan.
