Oberon is one of Caici and Loisur's only remaining children, and as a result has always been a little spoiled. He styles himself as a powerful mage, when in reality his magic isn't good for much except illusions that he augments with sleight of hand to look better than he is. He uses his tricks to wow hatchlings and the more impressionable members of the clan and outwardly seems happy with his position.

Unbeknownst to his kind-natured parents, Oberon has always resented Dior, his adoption, his powers, his popularity, everything about him. Burning with jealousy, he secretly plots to become the new prophet, beloved by all the clan. The fact that he has no actual prophetic abilities he sees as simply an inconvenience.

Much to his annoyance, the only person Oberon has gotten any traction with is silly Violu. The imperial transparently adores Oberon, and was easy to sway. Oberon praises Violu as his strong right hand, but really considers him just a useful pawn in the game no one realizes he's playing.
