The hotheaded Fire Rep of the Clan of Shining Stars!


Goldthorn was feeling sullen. Yet again, Sythlar had embarrassed her. When will Dad learn to stop? she thought. She didn't exactly like the hot climate of the Emberglow Hearth, her home either. I guess I don't really belong in the Fire Flight, do I? Unlike other members of the Vesuvius Clan, despite being gifted with the rare talent of pyrokinesis, she wasn't very interested in working the forge. She was expected, as the oldest dragon amongst her siblings, to succeed Goldenstar, the leader of Vesuvius Clan, and her mother, as the future leader. Suddenly, it started to rain. Yelps of horror filled the Clan as dragons scurried to hide from the rain. Ah, cool rain. Goldthorn, on the other hand, stayed where she was, relishing the cool drops of water on her golden scales. She soon fell into a slumber, hidden from the rest of her clan.

After the rain had stopped, Goldthorn awoke. She uncoiled from her sleep position. Suddenly, she squinted. Did she see the Flamecaller? Yes! It really was the Flamecaller, the elemental deity of the Fire Flight! The flaming deity seemed to be gesturing to something far away. Suddenly, it struck her. The Arcane Flight? Is it my destiny to go there? Goldthorn had made up her mind.

Later that night, when all the other dragons were sleeping, Goldthorn snuck out of camp. She silently made her way towards Starfall Isles, the Arcane Flight's territory. Two moving shadows were ahead of her. Wait. "Sevim? Rhyfelwr?" she softly called out.

"Shh!" Sevim suddenly whipped around. "Oh, it's you, Goldthorn. What are you doing out here? You're still a hatchling! Wait... Are you going to the Arcane Flight too?" Goldthorn nodded.

"But how-why-" Rhyfelwr started to ask but was stifled by Goldthorn.

"Just go! We need every hour of the night that we can possibly afford! The others will be waking up soon." Sevim nodded. He huffed out a spark of fire that expanded into a portal.

"Let's go." He motioned to the portal. The travelling party stepped in.

A brilliant flash of light greeted Goldthorn. "Welcome to the Clan of Shining Stars. You must be tired. Would you three like to come with me and stay for a while?" A pink and blue female Fae was standing before them. "My name is Starfall. Follow me." Exhausted by the travel, the three Fire dragons could only numbly follow. Soon, they arrived at a beautiful grassy clearing where dragons bustled about their duties merrily, laughing and chatting with their friends. The whole place was filled with a happy and carefree atmosphere. What a wonderful sight! Goldthorn thought to herself. Above them, purple curved peaks towered over them. "The Clan of Shining Stars!" Starfall excitedly introduced. A Tundra lumbered over to them. He introduced himself as Tundra, the deputy of the Clan of Shining Stars, and Starfall's mate. Other dragons who lived in the area also introduced themselves with friendly grins.

It had only been a few hours since Goldthorn started her new life in the Clan of Shining Stars, but she already felt like it had been her home for a million years. She sighed in contentment. Ah, this is the life! Feeling bored, the ever-playful Goldthorn decided to go exploring.

Goldthorn zipped through bushes, scaring away numerous Satin Mice and occasionally swooping into the skies with one and gobbling it up. Suddenly, she seemed to sense another dragon nearby. She guessed it was nothing more than a hunch, but chose to investigate anyway. Curious, she zoomed a few rounds around the bushes, blowing away all the leaves and revealing a weak figure. It was another Spiral! Goldthorn was immediately taken by the handsome male. His jade-green eyes shone out from the bush that he was hiding in, his dark green scales shimmering against the weak light that filtered in through the bare branches of the bush that he was hiding in. The Spiral shrank back from her. "Hey there. Who are you? I'm Goldthorn."

"I... I'm... I... I don't have a name... I don't know..." He looked away awkwardly.

"Would you like to come back with me?" Goldthorn asked. "You can always stay with us. And then I can give you a name!" The other Spiral nodded shyly.

Starfall and Tundra graciously welcomed the green Spiral, whom Goldthorn gave the name of Virizion, after a mythical creature she had heard about a long time ago. Very soon, Goldthorn and Virizion moved to Sparkle Reef, the new Water Division territory of the Clan of Shining Stars, and had a nest of three daughters there. One of them went back to Vesuvius Clan as a grown-up.

Now, Goldthorn lives happily with Virizion in Arcane territory, where they first met. Their children roam the vast expanses of the Windswept Plateau.

Her familiar Dandelion the feisty Leopard Coralclimber is good friends with Virizion's Noxious Coralclimber, and the two often play together, frisking all around the camp and sending the spirals chasing after them. She is finicky and fun-loving, and loves to make friends.
