Hecate is without a doubt the Clan's master of hexes. Her knowledge of spells and curses is unmatched, even by her own mate. Her skills in alchemy are highly advanced and she uses both magic and natural ingredients to make concoctions that can either heal or severely wound. Perhaps it is because she comes from a shadow background that she has a penchant for substances that can do everything from alter the perception of the mind to melt flesh from bone. The Shadowbinder has left her mark on her child, even if she now calls herself a dragon of the Icewarden. The wildclaw dragoness is known for her snide remarks and snarky attitude as well as her odd bouts of maniacal mutterings and laughter while she's working. Her methods and results are unquestionable, as is her loyalty to her clan (since no one has yet wound up dead from any of her concoctions), even though she tends to be a little off-kilter. The only dragon that might not find her all that strange is perhaps her mate Salem, who can be just as...odd. Deep in the labyrinthine passages at the base of the mountain, Hecate has orchestrated a vast network of tunnels and corridors where few dare tread. The walls are coated with all manner of dangerous fungi and bio-luminescent plants that seem to grow even without the touch of sunlight upon them. These are harvested by their shadowy tenders throughout the year and used in creating all sorts of potions. The tunnels themselves are patrolled by the pair's two shadow-borne pets. Verhext is the shadow wolf that answers to Hecate herself, and she has been known to attack even friendly Clan members that wander to close to her master's most delicate work. Hecate and her mate Salem together make one heck of a team when it comes to combat and its better not to engage them at all. Even if one were to close with them and manage to escape, the likelihood that they would find an awful surprise for them later is high. Both work diligently to advance and protect their experiments, however, and are rarely seen on the field of battle. When they do make appearances, most of their own Clan steers fairly clear of them. |
