Serezha is a necromancer — but admittedly, not a very good one. It sure looks like she’s doing something, with all the flashing and smoke and lightning striking the cauldron, but all in all, it doesn’t do very much. The best Serezha usually achieves is bringing a ghost back for a short conversation lasting only a few minutes, but this exhausts her entirely and leaves her unable to do anything again for days on end.

Nevertheless, she persists. Serezha is determined to perfect her magics one day. Her dream is to be able to fully reanimate a dragon, to make them come back “right” and to reunite them with their loved ones. She has extensive notes on the topic; she theorizes that as a lightning dragon, she has the best potential to do this, and she has mapped every nerve ending in the body of a dragon in hopes that stimulating the right ones with electricity will be enough for a full revival.

But until she can achieve that impossible task, Serezha is stuck as a complete amateur who can only hope and pray that a short conversation with a ghost is enough to help loved ones find closure. In the meantime, despite all her hard work, Serezha tires extremely easily. Her magical capacity is short, and constantly hearing and seeing spirits takes a toll on her. Trying to channel them so others can communicate with them takes an even heavier toll. As a result, Serezha spends a lot of her time sleeping, trying to recover from her latest experiments.

Because of Serezha’s lack of success and the dubious nature of her field of study, her clanmates tend to treat her as a joke more than anything else. Groans about dead batteries are likely to be met with a snarky response suggesting they take it to Serezha. Serezha tries to ignore these types of jokes, and she especially tries to ignore the roars of laughter that come afterwards, but like her abilities, they too take a toll on her and leave her worn out.

To cheer herself up from her lack of success and her clanmates’ teasing, Serezha buries herself in high fantasy paranormal literature. Vampire stories are her favorite; she loves to read about beautiful and glamorous immortal creatures and the mortals who are blessed enough to be allowed to stand by their sides. The rare times her family gets to see her smile are usually when she has her snout in a book.
