Aside from having the plummest job in the lair, he also holds the most important: he is the hatter. (To Swamprat's utter disgust, he does keep a notebook full of measurements for hatmaking. How else can he possibly keep track of all the numbers involved in head shapes and size and materials?)

Bobbles more often than most spirals in the air, but accordingly good at twisting to bump and bounce off in a way that won't hurt much. Led to the absolute genius of Ichabod's greatest creation and the most popular concept ever to blow through the Windswept Plateau: the multi-level airborne trampoline. 
Beat out competition for digging jobs beyond "enlarging the lair" mostly by being there first and getting started before anyone else could call dibs. Burrows and maintains all the tunnels necessary for lair infrastructure, as well as lays the piping inside once each tunnel is complete. (Swamprat tried to give him schematics once. Swamprat doesn't understand that tunnel direction, grade, length and angles depend on the condition of the soil, what's in the way, and the burrower's mood. The only schematics of the actual physical layout are in Doodle's head, which is the only place they're needed.) (That one time in winter when the pipes burst at the same time he was dying of a cold and so the entire lair suffered with him was very commiserating of them.)

Remy gifted Doodle a Pillow of Friendship in exchange for the hat Doodle would have given him anyway. The hat vanished by the very next day and has never turned up anywhere since. Remy claims no memory of it. (It was a nice hat. It had feathers all over.) |
