Rae is a scout under the guidance of her grandfather. The descendant of Modremoth, one of the leaders of the clan, Rae came to the clan via the help of an old friend. Her mother was found in an assaulted camp by her father, which lead to the two pairing together Her father always told her how she took after her grandfather, which lead to her willingness to meet him. The last dragon to be welcomed into the clan before the big move to the Trees, she doesn't remember much of the place the Tribe used to live in. She doesn't mind though, as the new place has many places for hide and seek.

As a scout, she has learnt many of the Tribe's secrets, and avoids the Swamp denizens - a smart move, her great-grandfather tells her. Modremoth has a soft spot for Rae, but the connection between the fae and her grandfather is unparalleled. She would do anything for him.

She's a skilled scout, with an uncanny ability to blend in with her surroundings, despite showing subtle patterns of her grandfather's 'red'. She still has trouble with ciphers, though, and instead takes them to Rat, the slave who works as an assistant, like her. Not that she's a slave. No. No, she's an assistant, like Rae. Slave, no, Rae didn't say anything about a slave. Rat's her friend.

Rae has to go now. It's almost dinnertime.

The sky glowed pink with meteorites, at least what could be seen through the trees. The Starfall Celebration had begun, and the whole grounds echoed with the Arcanist’s touch. But that's not why the Tribe was celebrating. Last week the Glademother had won, and members of the Tribe had fought for Her. And as such, the Glademother had recognised them.
Which came to this moment.

The Tribe had gathered in the center of the clearing. In the past, that was easy, but now it was a tight fit. The sapling bench, once a fine representation of the Tribe and its workings, had been moved to the library, where it was covered with ink and scrolls and dust. The place where it once lay was forgotten, but now Pearlcatchers and Spirals alike sat in the grass. Imperials, with their bodies snaked between the trees and heads poking out, lay with Faes clinging onto their horns. Nocturnes swung from tree branches, and Coatl claimed the front, claiming the audio was best right here. Skydancers hovered near the back, wanting to get closer but worried the proximity of the other dragons would damage their senses, while the resident Snapper waddled in and planted herself promptly in the middle of the proceedings.
The trees moved with the presence of the deadlier dragons. Slinking in from the swamp, the other half of the Tribe came quietly, but the smell was unmissable. A tense air fell about the dragons when the swamp members arrived, with only the younger ones pointing out the smell. They were quickly hushed and scolded, and the swamp dragons were pointedly ignored, but whispered rumours quickly spread. What was to be so important that the leaders would call the lower half of the Tribe?

At the front of the crowded area swung Kafani and Voltair in their portable nest. Years had passed since the elders had first claimed the land as theirs, and their once little clan looked so different now. Kafani cleared her throat, but Voltair held her back. Flitting over to the leaders, who were only just now entering the clearing, he whispered in the ear of Modremoth. When waiting proved no cure for the rabble occurring in front of them, Pyre gathered herself and roared.

Silence fell and heads turned expectantly at the three leaders who stood before them. Kafani and Voltair sat on Modremoth’s head, and a little fae lay hidden in his shoulder blades, unseen by the audience. Ursa stood on his left, rolling her pearl around. On his right stood Pyre, who tossed her head and stamped her feet at the official proceedings.
Modremoth stepped forward, and greeted the proceedings.

“Brothers and sisters, children and friends. We gather here today for one of our final meetings here.
No, we are not disbanding. We are a tribe, a family. And families stick together. And we have grown large.
Multiple generations exist here now, and years have flown by. This place is no longer ours. And so we gather here today. “

“We're leaving.” gruff from years of shouting and roaring, Pyres voice rumbled through, surprising everyone with her composure.
“We have scoured this place dry, and our territories are large. We have scouted out other places, and they will not suit us at all. Glademother, may her blood sow this land, has given us permission to strike at the heart of the land. To go where only the greatest have fought, and to show our strength to the Great Lady.”

“She means-” interrupted Ursa. The Tribe has still not fully accepted her as a leader, but still she stood there, head held high. The Swamp denizens hollered and bayed until Modremoth sought order, before Ursa began to speak again. Her bones rattled as she turned to face each individual, who shrunk under her gaze.
“She means, well... We will not go with you. We know the core of the Tribe does not appreciate us swamp members, despite us having an equal place among you. We pay our taxes, and provide your food, and keep your workplaces clean, and yet hate is still shown. We understand, and thus we will not go. The swamp is our home, and we will protect the homes you have held before we even came. But you will all have a chance to move and create a new place to work and love under the greatest saplings dragon kind has seen.”
The trees rustled as swamp members roared and stomped their feet, sneering and cackling at the other dragons as they curled their lips and turned their backs. Pyre grinned, as Modremoth strode forward again.

“Sylvari! Echo!” the Skydancers snapped to attention.
“The scouts have already found our new home. We will be living arboreally. Wieska has already planned the decorating, so please discuss with her your plans on the library and other such places, Echo. I will be relying on you and a few others to discuss important rooms. Echo, your library. Ember and Silas, kitchens. Your zoo, Blush. Your medical areas, healers. Please keep in mind the accessibility of those... Gravitationally challenged.” Modremoth shot a pointed look at Sophie, who chuckled and blushed.

“Frisk and Rat, your storage rooms need to be moved. I prefer you kept them with the library as before, but it is up to you. Scholars, it is up to you to ensure all study materials and books are moved and stored safely, so please take heed. Hatchery! There is a snug cave among the roots that would be perfect for the eggs and children. We are currently having it excavated and renovated for your purposes, as well as stairs in the inside of the tree. I have requested the eggs be as close to the soil as possible, anything else will be discussed with Wieska. And Sylvari. Your marketplace will be located on the ground level, on the opposite side of the tree to the hatchlings. All transactions will be held there. With our new Wardens, security will be at its highest. Anything that can be sold-” glaring at Ursa, “Legally[/], will be sold there.
Wardens will guard all caravans to and from the new spot, and certain sticky-fingered swamp members will be present at all times, so that nothing gets lost or misplaced. Any injuries, thefts, losses or deaths will be reported to the appropriate dragon. If all goes well, we will be properly settled within the month. Do I make myself clear?”
The clearing roared with the fervent discussion. Paintings would have to be preserved, and flowerbeds ripped up. Oh but apparently the new tree would have nets, and bridges between branches. Would there be a colony of trees, or just one? Will the levels of the trees be hierarchical? But what about the old caves, and where would the imperials sleep?

Modremoth recognised the futility of order, so the meeting was dismissed, with the exceptions of Sylvari and Berry.

When the last group's voices had echoed down the path, Modremoth turned around, exposing the young fae.

“Berry, meet Rae. A fellow clan found her mother in a camp, near death. They saved her life, and as a sign of thanks, chose one of the clanmates as a mate. They soon gave birth to a childbut couldn't look after her, and so she was brought here. She will be trained under you as a scout, like her mother and father...and her grandfather. “
Berry looked intensely at the child as she held out her arms.
“Her father was Yuki.”
Sylvari gasped and clutched his chest in an exaggerated manner.
“Does this mean I'm a granddaddy, old man?!”
Laughing, Modremoth shook his head and passed her over to Berry.
Still silent, Berry held the girl to his chest and slowly sank down, murmuring words of introduction to her. Sylvari danced around, trying to butt his face in between the two, but Berry only held her closer. His antennae danced around her as she tried to grab them, and tears wet the velvet on his face.
She was his son's gift to him, a Faes chance at forgiveness between a proud dancer and his weak father.
She was his Rae of hope.
And her arrival meant many things were changing within the Tribe.

Rae. Yuki's ray of light, his ray of hope. (I'm still working out her parents lore, but basically Yuki found Pisce (may have a name change) in a harpy assaulted camp, passed out and abandoned by those whom "owned" her. She was untrusting at first, but found Yuki's love pure. They love their children, but Rae was his pride and joy. She radiates her mothers fire, and saw in her redemption.
