As an egg, he had ended up rolling into the Tangled Wood, and found himself tangled in a nest of vines. The peculiar vines wrapped around his egg, and when he hatched, it seemed that some of the vines had become part of him, growing out of his body. The vines did not hurt, and in fact, felt quite natural even for the young hatchling he was. However, he could now hear voices and whispers from where there were none. Some were nice, helping him out through to adulthood, and are still accompanying him, but most were malicious, and were always trying to eat away at his sanity. Luckily, most of the time he fends them off quite well, though this due to his wandering alone in Shadow's domain; he had the time to devote to learning how to ignore them, but now that he has left, he's not very good at socialising. While he wasn't truly alone in the Brambles, with the company of an adorable guide and the kind voices of friendly spirits, he has hardly ever had any sort of relationship with another dragon, especially since his appearance is quite terrifying. Quote:
Cyril was comforted by his surroundings as he attempted to decipher this riddle. Whispers echoed in his head:"...animal...large...kindness..." "Emperor"
The thought of Emperors sent shivers down his spine, and he stiffened. Whenever he had seen multiple Imperials together, he could always catch glimpses of the monstrosities they could become, and it was never pretty. And yet, he vaguely remembered an Emperor he had seen amidst the Foxfire Bramble of the Tangled Wood. It was a sad and deprived creature, left to forever wander the neverending nightmare that was now its life... Could the quote refer to Emperors? To Imperials like himself? He took another look at the door in front of him; he wanted to know, so he decided to try. |
