O R I G I N S
Long has Solstice been enraptured with the way pieces of her world change over the course of time, how things shift forms from pristine to worn and, eventually, in the reverse. Since she was but a hatchling she found a distinct love in watching the changing of the leaves from green to yellow, orange, brown, and eventually to a dead black in the fall; hence the name given to her; Solstice.
This fascination was due, in part, to bearing witness to the physical state of her father Amarah, the "King of Plague" and eldest born imperial son of the Plague Bringer. Over the course of her comparatively short life, Solstice had watched as his body degraded ever further and how he subsequently bound himself in furs and bandages. The young dragon thus grew very familiar with the anatomy of her kind and, with great curiosity, yearned to learn the inner workings of the other species of the world. Over time, her simple morbid curiosity of anatomy and physiology evolved into preforming full blown autopsies on the deceased. Non imperial dragons that strayed too close to her home clan's territory and perished or that attempted a failed attack were subsequently brought to her to tinker with. Deceased Imperial dragons however required a special code of conduct for her to work on as multiple corpses in close vicinity to one another could potentially form a dreaded Emperor. These cadavers were taken far from clan territory and subsequently destroyed after Solstice had finished her studies. This went on for many months before she could no longer continue to learn with her meager resources and experience; dead dragons only gave so much insight to the way they lived. |
Once Solstice made up her mind to leave her home clan in search of further knowledge, it occurred to the Imperial that she could use her skills to make an actual career for herself by repairing the bodies of the living. She traveled to a nature clan far from her former home to learn some of their trade secrets and, eventually, after receiving all the knowledge they could impart upon here there, to Clan An Duin.
There the dutiful plague princess has honed her abilities and practiced her craft day in and day out on the numerous wounded that pass through the clan's territory. The desert of the Scarred Wasteland is a treacherous place and the dragons of the clan was grateful to find a dragon so adept in physical repair. Despite this opportunity to focus solely on her surgical skills however, Solstice retains a deep fascination with the legendary Emperors of her species.
Far from prying eyes and unbeknownst to the rest of the clan, she conducts ungodly experiments in an undisclosed location in the wastes, safe from the heavy judgement and disdain that would befall her if word were to spread of her deeds. On this hidden site she strives to create more controllable bits of Emperors from simple body parts such as arms and legs, and experiments with a vast array of different blood and Flight types in these amalgamations.
She's even gone so far as to, on one occasion, create and temporarily raise a creature known as a 'Prince'. This is the reanimated form an Emperor comprised of deceased infant Imperials take, their bodies typically acquired through dark means or stolen from their very graves.

Recently the tale of two scorned lovers reached Solstice's ears; so she decded to meet up with the pair in secret. Imperials, one of the Plague flight and one of the Nature flight, were destined to a life apart, enforced strongly by their respective clans. They vowed, since they could not be together in life, they would be together in death, and Solstice oversaw the transformation into a full flegded, two headed emperor. Along with the help of an electronic device devised by Malborn, Shinrinyoku and Senlinyu's emperor will remain together in a subdued state deep in Solstice's grotto, for all time.
