CASPIAN
THE TRAVELLER
A headstrong fellow, this dragon is. Caspian had always adored the idea of adventuring, and after arriving at Skydust Stones as a hatchling and meeting Wavecaller for the first time, his dreams became lifelong goals. He wanted to be like the older Guardian, with just as much knowledge and experience, if not more. As a young dragon at the beginning of his Search, he committed to setting out and exploring the world of Sornieth in hopes of finding his charge. He crossed endless plains, towering mountains and swamp-like forests, but to no avail. No object or dragon stood out to him as something to protect, to cherish and love for his entire life. So he carried on, making his way through the world. However, it turned out Caspian was not as hardy, or as prudent, as Wavecaller once was. After having crossed the Sea of a Thousand Currents with little difficulty (thanks to the Water-flight heritage from his father), he ended up in the Fortress of Ends, where the biting winds and constant blizzards put his brawn to the test. His limbs began to freeze over, growing black from frostbite and covered in crystals of ice that would never melt. His pace grew slower and slower, until he was unable to move, stuck in a cave that only provided minimal shelter from the harsh conditions of the Icewarden's domain. It took many moons before another dragon showed up. One with ice-white scales, ultraviolet wings and a voice as clear as the cloudless days of the Windswept Plateau that Caspian once enjoyed. Together, they escaped the vice-like grip of the Southern Icefield, and returned to the Reedcleft Ascent and to the welcoming atmosphere of Skydust Stones. Over their journey, Caspian developed a - dare he say it? - liking for this new companion of his, and she seemed to reciprocate his feelings. He wears the shackles around his arms not as a reminder of those long days and nights spent in the Fortress of Ends, but as a warning to young, eager dragons. Having frozen over, he finds himself unable to remove them. And to him, that is alright. Because those shackles remind him of the first days with the white dragon, the one who helped him escape certain death. Maybe, he has found his charge at last. | ............... |
