Phantom always had a knack for getting into trouble. As a young hatchling, she was the one who was most often found in the infirmary nursing bruises and bumps, chatting cheerfully with the other hatchlings and regaling her thrilling tales.

Even in the simplest of situations, ones where most dragons would deem suffocatingly safe, Phantom would find herself in the strangest predicaments. A picnic would go astray from a Longneck ambush — never mind that Longnecks live nowhere near the Tangled Woods — or a walk in the woods would suddenly turn into discovering the lost tomb of an Emperor — after she tripped and fell into it, destroying almost half the valuables.

Some enviously said that Phantom’s luck was remarkable. Others said that her horrendous luck was unparalleled. Even more would warn others to keep their distance from her, lest her bad luck passes to them.

It was because of all these strange mishaps that Phantom became interested in history. Each new ancient civilization’s relics she discovered — completely by dumb luck — was studied and documented meticulously by her, theories spun and stories made for why, and how, such an object came to be. Old scrolls were a particular treasure of hers, and she’d spend hours at a time, translating and transcribing the old texts.

Her lair was filled with a small fortune of artifacts. Ancient relics, stone reliefs, and scrolls and parchment covered every surface available. Notes, scrawled messily and excitedly by Phantom, littered the floors and workbench, specifying the smallest of details or the wildest of theories.

When she no longer had any treasures to go study, Phantom would go on adventures to discover new relics. Most of the time, she came back empty-handed, whistling cheerfully and regaling her adventures of thrillingly camping by a riverbank. Other times, often when she was traversing no more than two feet from camp, she’d trip over a tree root and stumble into yet another major archaeological discovery — though occasionally she'd find herself in the midst of a Beastclan war, rather than in a dusty old tomb.

Her luck, it seemed, worked in the strangest of ways.

Phantom's a happy-go-lucky dragon. She sees the bright side in everything, is absolutely optimistic, and nothing can keep her down. Some people find her infuriatingly cheerful, but they're just being downers.

She's interested in history and treasure hunting. And... that's about it. Phantom's pretty normal compared to other dragons in this clan. 10/10, I'd recommend her. She'd be great to go on a picnic with, as long as you don't mind that it might get interrupted by a freak thunderstorm that apparently occurred nowhere else.

Her love of history began in school with the teachers regaling all these grand tales about the olden days and all the theories on how they lived. And it just stuck with her for the rest of her life.

And through her travels of finding interesting artifacts, Phantom just ended up settling here 'cause why not? Also, no one here has called her a bad luck charm to her face, or obviously ostracized her. They might call her bad luck behind her back... and they might subtly exclude her from group activities, but as long as Phantom doesn't notice, everything's 100% okay. Not that it's okay to be mean behind someone's back. That's definitely not okay. But Phantom's enough of a nice dragon that she'd forgive anyone. And also, she might have some control over her luck so anyone who talks bad about her and has bad luck afterwards really only has themselves to blame.

Phantom's neighbor is Pacey, who may or may not be a bit creepy. But ya know, that's fine, not everyone's perfect, and Pacey's only a bit creepy because he works in a grave yard. Nothing else, absolutely no other reason that might make him creepy. Nope. Plus, it helps that if Pacey ends up digging up something weird, he gives it to Phantom so she can add it to her collection. Anyone who goes out of their way to help her is perfectly good in Phantom's book.

Admittedly, they don't really talk much for all that they're neighbors. Like, they say good morning and how do you do, but nothing else. And Pacey works night shifts and Phantom's often away on weird adventures, so they never really had the chance to develop the relationship any further. Not that Phantom would want to. Phantom's perfectly fine with all her tomb raiding stuff to keep her busy.
