Biography

The Bookworm/Enchanter
"Has anyone seen my bookmark?"

Eclipse came with Dawn and Victor, the three were from allied Clans and had set out together to find a new Clan to live in. While Victor quickly set up a workshop for his experiments with life and death, and Dawn became the Clan historian, Eclipse found himself abandoned by his friends, confused about his place in the Clan.

Given his natural affinity for magic, like his mother, he took to studying in the library, which is how he met Iblis. She helped guide him to where the books he was looking for were, and despite not being able to do magic herself, she proved an excellent study partner and friend, and they two often curl up with a book together.

While he and Iblis were reading, they discovered a theory of magic that was meant to enhance pre-existing magic. They hunted down every scrap of information they could, and then they performed a ritual. The end was result was unexpected to say the least. They found themselves covered in glowing marks. They were painless marks, and ones that gave them a power the Clan had never seen before. With a bit of concentration and magic Eclipse or Iblis can enchant any object with magical powers.

They are still exploring the effects their magic has on items they enchant.

While in the 44th games Eclipse was subjected to an odd split in time. There were two separate games on two different timelines. In one he got second place despite never killing anyone, only losing because he was killed by a Sphinx. In the second one he was far more brutal. He came to a truce with Ganymede only to kill him the next day. He jumped and killed another competitor. He again made it to the top three, this time being killed by a second Arena event, taking third.

The dual timelines merged following the games leaving Eclipse's mind shattered and confused as to the actual events that occurred and how they went down. Slowly his mind is separating the time lines into clear distinct memories but it's a delicate process and not a quick one either.

Eclipse now wears a pocket watch at all times and is often seen checking it to reassure himself that time is passing correctly.

-
Eclipse stared at his pearl, barely aware of the movement of his clanmates around him. He was curled up in the corner of the cave the Clan used as a library. Oz left him alone, the fae focused on his books and scrolls but he came by every so often, almost as though to make sure Eclipse was still there.

He weighed his pearl in his hand as he tried to remember. He'd run from the cornucopia. That was consistent. And then wild magic. But that didn't happen? Had it?

He remembered enchanting a sword, he'd spent the night working on it, it glowed in his hands, and when he was done it was made so that when he swung it, Ganymede had died in one stroke. But at the same time he remembered fleeing a powerful and murderous fae. But how? He couldn't have been running for his life at the same time he was ending Ganymede's life?

He'd been chased by Rhodas, constantly fleeing her and her magic, she used his as a chance to both attack him and attempt to understand the enchantments he'd cast on himself. But Rhodas had been killed by a Sphinx. No, he'd been killed by the Sphinx. Hadn't he? Or had it been a magical geyser?

He remembered after they'd brought him back (no sign of the wounds that killed him so no answers there) they'd brought him to Iskal and Shalestone and explained. An unusual burst of wild magic had occurred. There were suspicious that it had been caused by either the Nocturnes or one of the competitors but they would be looking into. Something about the games being canceled, and that eventually his brain and magic would make sense of what would happened to him.

But when? Now it was all a jumbled mess, it couldn't keep one memory straight, he'd made a truce that night with Ganymede, he'd fled from the fae the next morning, but no, that wasn't right, those puzzle pieces didn't go together.

And speaking of when, how did he know it wouldn't happen again? How did he know wasn't happening now. That there wasn't second version of him wandering around, in a separate timeline.

He stared at the reflection of himself in his pearl, how could he add what had happened to him to his pearl when he didn't know what had happened? How was this part of him? Which timeline was the true him? Should he just add to his pearl and assume it would all work out?

A book landed in front of him, Eclipse paused and looked up, staring at him were two familiar and worried faces. Well one was worried, Oz was as impassive as always.

Iblis looked at him, then at the book, then at him again. "I thought we had a book that might help, Oz helped me find it."

He set his pearl down, resting one hand on it, "why do you think it'll help?" his voice sounded rough, partially because he hadn't spoken to anyone since he'd been brought back.

"My great-grandparents explained what happened," she shoved the book towards him, "this talks about the theory there are multiple universes, how to access them, and alternate timelines. Maybe we can figure out what spell was used, and what it did."

Eclipse reached for the book and opened it, Iblis curled up next to him to read with him, Oz fluttered down to say, "feel free to borrow that for as long as you need." The fae was monotone but Eclipse thought he saw concern in the way the fae's crest flared.

"Thank you, both of you," he took a deep steadying breath and started to read. There had to be answers somewhere.
