Once a mighty and fearsome dragon, it now lays dormant in a dark, damp cave, its scales covered in a strange, glowing fungus. Legend has it that this fungus was once a prized possession of a powerful sorcerer, who used it to imbue his magic with incredible potency.
However, one day, the sorcerer's experiment went horribly wrong, and the fungus mutated, spreading rapidly and infecting everything in its path. The sorcerer was unable to contain it, and soon, the entire region was overrun with the glowing, pulsing fungus.
The dragon was one of the first victims of the infection, and it now lies dormant, its once-mighty body consumed by the fungus. But the dragon is not dead, not entirely. For within the fungus, there still beats a faint glimmer of life, a spark of the dragon's fierce spirit.
Those who dare to venture into the cave whisper of a strange, eerie presence, a feeling of being watched by something ancient and powerful. And some say that on rare occasions, the fungus-covered dragon awakens, its eyes glowing with a fierce, otherworldly light, and unleashes a terrible roar that shakes the very earth. But whether the dragon is friend or foe, none can say, for its mind has been consumed by the fungus, and its actions are as unpredictable as they are dangerous.
OLD LORE:
She fell from the sky, tumbling down from the murky red light and into the inky black depths of the waves.
No one knows how she got trapped in the bubble of air that kept her from drowning. No one knows if she was in it before she fell, or if the Tidelord himself cast it around her to preserve her life.
But the fact remains that her bubble of air popped--directly over the water-door leading in to the nursery.
Animos was the one that found the hatchling curled up in a little cave of coral after one of the unbonded Wraith Hounds practically dragged him over. A feat worthy of note, considering the hound was barely bigger than an ant was to a fae.
Despite all his best attempts, Animos could not coax the Plague-eyed child out of her hiding spot. There is no doubt that the staggering differences in their sizes made the situation worse.
Finally, seeing that the Wraith Hound didn't seem to cause the child any more alarm, Animos backed off and went to fetch Valkhuna, hoping that she would have better luck calming the mysterious hatchling.
When he returned, it was to find Eshaan sitting quietly in a pool of water, his wings curled protectively around the young Spiral, who was sleeping soundly, the Wraith Hound curled up against her tail.
No one knows how the small child managed to find her way into their lair, but they all agree on one thing.
This is where she belongs.
