"You never know what you might overhear over a cup of coffee."

A lightning dragon raised in a clan in the Starfall Isles, Laylan has always been a good listener. She seems so calm and trustworthy that other dragons tell her any number of things. Few would guess that she's an information broker who trades in news and gossip.

She quickly learned that locations like coffee shops were ideal for dragons in her profession, so when her former clanmate mentioned that a coffee shop had opened in Lantern Port, Laylan came for a visit. She didn't expect that one of the shop's owners would later come looking for her. At first she thought the true purpose of her visit had been discovered, but later she found out that he was in love with her. To her surprise, after they had corresponded for a while, she realized that she felt the same about him. She attempted to justify it to herself that working full time in a coffee shop would be perfect for her "real" profession and promptly moved to Lantern Port to live with her new mate Pence.

While even her mate is oblivious to her other work, a select handful of the island's residents know of her true trade, among them the information specialist Sentis, who keeps her informed of the island's latest gossip. Laylan relies on the thief Nathaniel when she needs to sneak a missive outside the clan's borders.
