Biography
Kasatka
Lover of Music, Master of the Strings
Born in the domain of the Icewarden, Kasatka moved to the Bleakfalls Clan in her early adulthood, drawn in my the melodious dragons of the region. In her homelands, she was discouraged from practicing music, and even had to hide herself to hum a tune and write down the notes to the first song she was composing. Silence was golden in the Frigid Floes, and she was not looked upon with any respect due to her love of music.
When she was brought within the Bleakfalls Clan, the grand doors of the Lair opened and her senses were overwhelmed with the flowery incense burning in the halls, and the wonderful music that came to her ears. She approached the group of dragons who were performing in the main hall, and as they finished a set she asked if she could play along with them. Without hesitation, the head of the group enthusiastically agreed. "We encourage any musical talents, friend! What instrument would you like to play?" he said as he motioned towards a rack of different musical instruments.
"Actually, the Lute if that's okay" Kasatka said shyly, as she had never expected anyone to take interest in actually hearing her musical talents.
A Snapper in the group handed her his Lute and the group's leader tipped his head for her to start playing "You lead, we'll join in with the Rhythms!" and with that, her trembling paw reached up to strum the strings lightly... then she comfortably rocked her body with the tune she played to the group. Her eyes opened to see the others in the group were bobbing their heads with the music she was playing. Then they joined in, one by one, with their flutes, horns, and tambourines. Many of the dragons in the main hall paused their conversations to watch the group play. For Kasatka, she felt as though an eternity had passed before the song finally came to a close. With the final strum of her lute, the hall was completely silent.
Then the sounds of dozens of paws clapping together filled the cavernous room, whistles, and cheers could be heard and all Kasatka could do was sit in stunned silence as this room full of dragons praised her for her music. Emotions overwhelmed her, and the Snapper nudged her with his broad shoulder and winked, "So, what're your thoughts on letting us buy you your own lute, and you playing with us?" She wordlessly nodded, and threw her small arms around his neck.
The group kept to their word, and together they went and ordered her a custom Lute, exactly to her specifications. She currently plays the hall every other day, but can often be seen on off days walking the halls on her own, strumming a cheery tune to herself and filling the halls of the old temple with the warm thrumming of lute strings and her melodic voice humming praises to the Windsinger, and the Clan that took her in.
