Biography

Rush
Long-Distance Messenger

"Morfos has been missing too long," Reina said. "I was wondering if you could take up his work."

Rush sat back on his haunches, pushed his beret back with a hand so he could peer more clearly at the clan leader. "Didn't he run messages? I thought Celerity was handling it?"

"Celerity's route takes her to Cloudkeeper's clan and back," Reina said. "That's full-time work given how much traffic there is between us. Morfos used to handle our correspondence with allied clans." She tilted her head, crest feathers spreading. "The trips are long. But I've watched you. You're good in the air, and you glide better than any of our other skydancers. And you're focused. Some of the others like traveling, but I think it would bother them to have to deliver packages and come back. They want to explore, not work."

That she'd noticed him flying flattered him. His nesting preferences ran toward the large and cuddly, but he admired and respected her as a leader of dragons, and had never regretted accepting her offer to join the Lair by the Sea. "It sounds interesting," he said. "I'd be glad to give it a try, see if it works out."

"Excellent," she said, rising. "Won't you come with me, then? We've got a map in the hoard. I can tell you the common routes."

He jogged after her, pleased. For months he'd plied the skies above the clan, flying patrol routes and guiding the gathering parties toward interesting finds, and while he'd enjoyed being useful he'd begun to find it... routine. A new challenge sounded like just what he needed.
