Chai's fondest memories with his parents and siblings was sitting around a blazing fire during ice storms, sipping tea, and telling stories. Chai loved the cozy atmosphere and the bonding experience. These doting memories inspired him to pursue his dream of opening up a tea shop. He initially planned to open one up in the Fortress Of Ends, but with the lack of customers or...lack of anyone for that matter, he wouldn't get any business. His mother, Clementine, advised Chai to establish his business in her hometown, Virdian labyrinth. The Everbloom gardens and the neighboring Gladeveins would give him all the herbs and fresh water he needed to create his refreshing tea. Excited and nervous, he set off to pursue his dream.

This cool shop owner specializes in managing and accounting The Brewing Kettle, in addition to one of his many talents, he makes the worlds best refreshing ice cold tea. His weakness is tea related puns. Though not very good or clever at them, Chai will write puns on the tea flavor of the day board. It's not uncommon to see him write the same pun over again, but he still think they are funny to him old or new. He intends to name his children after Tea-related stuff, but his wife put her foot down on that punnery. Tea permitted their children would choose their own name when they become of age. This however doesn't stop chai from suggesting names to them, much to Tea's chargin. When he isn't working the shop, he enjoys reading his romance novels and spending quality time drinking tea with his wife on the balcony of their shop.

When Chai was getting settled into his new home, he came across Tea's bamboo furniture store. They surprisingly became fast friends when Chai mentioned about settling in and trying to when he made furniture for his bachelor pad and happen to spot her bamboo furniture for sale
