Both unnaturally small, Newt and Keira are partners and typically go on scouting missions together. The two often venture to minimally-explored areas, taking maps generated by quick flyovers from larger dragons and adding details and landmarks that were initially missed. While the two travel together on land, with the exception of when Keira goes somewhere underground because no thank you, Newt will often explore ponds, lakes, shorelines, and other features on her own, diving down to discover how deep the water is and if anything interesting lies under the surface.

Like her partner, Newt enjoys collecting specimens from her dives, but she tends to focus on any interesting creatures she finds. While the Bogsneak is well-adapted to diving and can surface fairly rapidly, she tends to spend more time slowly surfacing than diving down or exploring in the first place, being sure that any specimens she brings up can adapt to the lessening pressure safely. Her den has several aquariums dedicated to spare specimens that she has found, and only on very rare occasions do such specimens end up as snacks in the dead of night.
