Biography
Take this with a grain of salt. I tried to write it as if she wrote it herself, and I'm still not sure if I succeeded. The darker colors in the Stat Bars is her filling it in herself.

Backstory

This pinnacle of dragon-kind is known far and wide as Silla, Matron of the Quill and Lorekeeper of the Overseers. Formerly belonging to the Steelsand clan, she left after a disagreement with their clan leader, Illian. But the nature of the disagreement isn't important right now, this is for the history of perhaps the greatest dragon in existence. Hatched by the Steelsand clan mother Mirzam, she grew up without knowing her true parents. Mirzam believes this led her to become rebellious and cause undue trouble as a hatchling, but there a number of other hatchlings that caused equal or more trouble - Silla believes she was singled out simply because she was a fire dragon without parents. As she matured, she mellowed out, and became interested in literature. She would often shirk duties to read history, mythology, and general fiction - things that Illian found "worthless for her capabilities." However, at the advice of Mirzam, he allowed her to continue her interest and apprenticed her to Zaria, Scribe of the Steelsand clan. Working with her, Silla learned proper grammar, spelling, increased her vocabulary, and developed her style of writing. However, her life there was short lived. Illian commands total authority and despises disobedience, even if he gives an order that is not to the benefit of the clan. Even if it is at the expense of another life. Obviously, she received an order on a hunting mission to slay a flying book, which she could not do. She managed to subdue it non-violently, and gained it as a familiar. Despite this new, wondrous addition to their clan, Silla was banished for disobeying a direct order. She left, and wandered for several nights, until her newly gained familiar took flight and guided her to a sort of hidden valley, where she found a guardian and nocturne that had made their lair there. They allowed her to join, and she naturally became the clan scribe - tracking the clan history, inventory, keeping a record of pilgrims, and other secretarial duties. |

Personality
Silla is evenheaded, logical, and thinks through every plan quickly and efficiently. She stands up for what she believes in, but is always willing to re-evaluate her position should new information come to light. She is a sociable dragon, and enjoys casual conversation as much as deep, introspective discussion. She places herself above petty gossip and playground insults, attempting to take the high road wherever possible. She is exceptionally humble and charitable, and finds flattery to be a massive waste of time. When presented with a problem, she believes that the best solution is the one that pleases everyone, even if the effort required outshines the reward. She is empathetic, and tries to make sure that everyone else is taken care of before herself, especially the younglings. She spends hours at a time ensuring that they have the proper education and skills to succeed in life after they are done training. Silla cares little for material possessions and worldly things, believing that the only thing worth having is a legacy of good that will live on as a reminder to others. In stories that she reads, she aspires to be the noble and valiant hero, but sees the points the villain makes and wishes for a peaceful resolution. She is not keen on violence, and believes that the root cause of violence is a fundamental misunderstanding between the offending parties. She is not a pacifist, and will fight to defend herself and others, but only if it is the only way. She tries to get along with others at all times, but in the occasion she can't she gives the other dragon space and will occasionally "test the waters" before truly committing to a course of action. She doesn't really have enemies, and instead has a large circle of friends and family in varying stages of affection. She believes that everyone deserves another chance, and that everyone has a redeemable quality about them, no matter how small. Everyone is useful and beautiful, and it is the differences between them that make a community work. |
