A SUMMONS

____Who are you, o motherless one, to drown us in the sea? How did you summon the tides to a landlocked stronghold in a blind, barren city? Why have your waves devoured our clan and made us barren? Now foam and brine swirl in our broken halls, and maren songs echo in the ruins of vast libraries. We taste the bitterness of our change with every breath. We are not who we once were. You have ripped us from the warm regard of our Lady of Wisdom and Light and into the chill, dark embrace of the leviathan that sleeps beneath the waves. Was it our hubris that brought us here? Our pride? Our ever-increasing preponderance of seers and prophets? What has been done to us?

____Look to the murky depths, o lost children, and there you will find your future. Not for pride or for caprice were you brought here, but by the joined Will of two of the Great Old Ones. The Firstborn, the mothers of us all, have summoned you to a greater calling. Will you deny them?

DUTY CALLS

____Leviathans swim in the hostile depths. Not of the Tidelord's auspice are they, but the many-headed rulers of the dark. They are a god's mistake, vast and terrible in proportion. They cannot be bargained with, or appeased, only opposed. They seek only death. They are a danger to us all. Left unchecked, they will overrun all the world, and beyond. This must not happen.

A LEVIATHAN

____It comes from below, in the places where even the Tidelord's influence wanes. A dozen angry eyes, a hundred rending teeth, a bloated twisting body of rended flesh and strained sinew. It is one of many, all of whom you will face before you die. You may find yourself forced to serve in death and beyond, should you fall before their might. You must not. Your strength will fail here, your claws and your magic. Only by cunning and wisdom will you survive, and the grace of the Great Ones. Remember that there are fates worse than death, and guard your clanmates with zeal. You must not fall.

BATTLE JOINED

____One against many, and yet the one is many. Too many heads, reeking of fury and despair, abased and profanely wicked. Prey is prey is prey is prey. The hunter awaits, and the remolding of the will to suit the flesh. Only by base cunning can the battle be won, and one becomes many becomes separate. Violated. The panoply of terrors tears itself apart, piece by little piece, and slowly becomes unraveled. There is peace at last.

THE BREACH

____And the danger did recede, but fewer remained in the aftermath. And yet the ancient foe did remain, vast and horrible, beaten but not defeated, retreating into their ancient hiding places in the hidden cracks of the world. And so the clan rallied to follow, determined to fight until the last. Thus begins the story of the greatest hunt in the world, the tale of the eradication of the false Emperors who mastered no currents in the endless Sea.

Legends claim that, on the foggiest of nights, the darkest and most secret of the Tidelord's servants leaves the Sea to wander the other realms, always searching.

Legends claim that if she finds a clan with too many of the Tidelord's rightful subjects, she will summon the waters to reclaim what is rightfully her master's, no matter how far from the Sea they might be.

Legends claim that the quietest and most dedicated of the Tidelord's children wanders Sornieth eternally in search of aid against her deity's greatest threat.

Legends claim that it is only through her sacrifice, and the sacrifice of those brave enough to join her in her endless quest, that keeps the depths of the Sea of a Thousand Currents safe for all.
