Biography

Elyta Captain of the Guard Far more practical though no less powerful than her mate Emrys, Elyta works hard to ensure the safety of everyone on the island of Prufrock and in Lantern Port. As Captain of the Guard, she trains recruits and organizes patrols and watches. She defers to the clan's mages and exorcists in perils beyond the physical, but no one doubts her prowess as a warrior. Though a warrior of considerable talent, her mind is as sharp as her talons, and she enjoys spending afternoons quietly reading tomes of strategy alongside her librarian mate. Ely is fiercely loyal to Em and is the clan's battle expert. She tolerates the coatl that make up the vast majority of the clan's population, though she finds them strange companions and wishes they would put more effort toward the clan's defense. Their leader, Ez, eventually agreed to train under her and now regularly assists in patrols. She was even able to convince him to use his role as an envoy to recruit more warriors to join the clan's ranks, especially after the events of the Barrier Breach rendered the island vulnerable. Ely has finally accepted that she is fated to dwell among scholars and other dragons only interested in the esoteric, though she still gets along best with practical dragons who either know how to fight or have tangibly useful skills. Before she met Emrys, she spent her early days traveling in search of her charge. On one of her many adventures, she saved the life of a young guardian princess in the Hewn City, and Elyta was surprised when the other guardian tracked her clear across Sornieth and asked to train with her. She pretends to be exasperated by Edlyn's presence - she had never really wanted a protege - but is secretly flattered that the princess wants to apprentice under her wing and proud at the progress the other guardian has made. Ely wasn't quite sure what to think of Vis and Ven, the battle trainers who came to live with the clan. On the one hand, she was grateful with the addition of more warriors to protect the clan from the encroaching beastclans on the nearby Colosseo Archipelago. On the other hand, they were more powerful than she was, which irked her until she trained enough to stand beside them as their equal. Now she works with them and other recruited warriors to patrol the clan's territory and keep it safe. In addition to the tundra Evrain and the coatl Albus, she and her mate adopted the orphaned hatchlings Splinter and Legend when Indil rescued them and brought them to Prufrock. She is closest to Legend and admires his strength, encouraging and aiding him in his martial studies. Adopting several hatchlings made Emrys and Elyta once again long for hatchlings of their own, though their nest was marred by tragedy when a malevolent spirit attacked the nesting grounds. Their guardian son Avery was discovered to have dwarfism, and they blamed his condition on the spirit's assault. They did what they could to help him adjust to life with his small form; Elyta trained him to defend himself, at least, though he'll never be a formidable warrior. Emrys spelled runes on her hide to help protect her in battle. Art |
