Naethanniel, or Nate, has been Berekiel's close friend and companion for years, and he was responsible for guiding Bere to Clan Menhir when the fae's herbal remedies failed to heal the Mirror's wounds completely. He doesn't mind the company of other dragons, and spends plenty of time with the clan by himself, but usually slinks away at the end of the day to seek out Bere's company instead.

He distrusts Veloden and his fauns' trickery, but he holds grudging respect for Venodel and his care for the forest. When Bere is given a tast by Venodel, Nate is likely to assist (even if he grumbles all the way through it). He'd never admit it aloud, but he's grateful to Venodel for saving Bere's life, and this is his way of repaying that debt.
