Isha
The Sightseer

The first time Isha opened his eyes as a hatchling, he found the world around him to be very... black and white. By instinct, he assumed every dragon saw things this way, and he didn't question it. He grew up and moved on from his Ice clan of birth to a Fire clan. Being the rebellious young Coatl he was, Isha was eager to live among heat-lovers-- the exact opposite of the ice-blooded folks he was raised among. His excuse to his parents was that Coatls were, after all, more native to the Fire regions of Sorneith. They paid him no mind, allowing him to slip away easily. It wasn't until, when he was well into adulthood, that his mate in the Fire clan asked him if he thought whether the sky was more blue or gray that day. Confused, Isha replied that it was always gray to him. He was unfamiliar with the concept of "blue." His mate, shocked, informed him of all the beautiful colors of the rainbow, and more beyond that. Isha realized that he was colorblind. He had been raised in such a bland society that hadn't ever bothered to remark on different colors because, after all, ice was white. Eagerly Isha stepped up to a puddle of water. "Well, what colors am I?" he asked his mate, gazing at his reflection and desperately curious what he looked like if his scales, after all, weren't just black and white. Sadly, his mate replied that he was black and white; it just so happened that when Isha looked at himself, the colors he saw himself as were his true colors. This disappointed him; in any case, he put this behind him and allowed his mate to describe the vibrant colors of their three daughters' wings when they hatched. After he had a nasty fight with his mate, she broke off their relationship. Isha was heartbroken, inconsolable by his daughters, all of whom ultimately went to serve higher deities. Isha found a Water clan and brought his trusty old familiar along with him. He is now happy where he is. He often, however, ignores his reflection in the water around him; he'd rather not be reminded that he is just as dull-looking as the world he sees around him.
