Sol is a newer member of Clan Quills, he took over position of Head Scavenger since the departure of the Spiral Sirica and now is gathering a pack both for protection while roaming and seeking useful items for the researchers as well as for his own sense of peace. The scholars are all so terribly stuffy and while he respects Quillian and her requests for materials, he does not have patience with most of the others and has not been able to bond well with them. Plajus, one of the few researchers he tolerates, thinks it is due to a plague clan grafting the extra wings onto him, he was mistreated terribly by the plague researchers and now distrusts them instinctively.. He rarely opens up about his past and claims to have no memory of his own parents or clutchmates.

His familiar was obtained while he was on one such scavenging mission on the edges of Plague territory. He was able to best the beast and decided instead of landing a finishing blow, to bring it back for the researchers. Everyone was quite surprised, but as long as he keeps a contamination containment spell applied, he has been permitted to keep it.
