- magic is his lifeblood
- i dunno but he's very pure and puts up with nim when she's being problematic

- was possessed for a stretch of time
- what we'll call a "malicious force/presence" attacked a scouting party, killing some, wounding Nimbatus, and inhabiting Simon
- ill build on this more sometime but basically it rlly sucked for him
- took weeks before they removed the force/"cleansed" Simon of it, and much much longer for him to recover/recuperate/regain his strength
- the experience changed him permanently. opal the physical remnants (kinda a scar) of the sickly presence that once stole his body, magic's appearance/qualities have changed incorporating some of the spirit's qualities, he's also now a spiral
- personality has also changed, or at least he expresses it differently. he kinda...expects people to be scared of & reject him. it's made him a bit more cautious and closed off
- there's this certain hollowness to him now, like he's been places, seen things no dragon should see. he's still very kind, very loving, but there's a shadow over him you'd have to look closely to see
- masma sees spirits and she says he's quite literally built into the dead shell of a malicious one. so like it's woven into him irreparably - he's grown around it and now they're kinda...one I guess?
- him and nim's kids after Rynn are different than the first two - ones with opal have picked up Simon's "ailment" so-to-speak, hereditarially. it's not actually a disease (as the parents once feared) but rather a sort of inherited immunity. kids with it are able to resist magic, especially evil/dark magic, especially well.
