-- Kirin is in close touch with her parents Phyll and Chlora. She looks up to them and really wants to be a great gladiator (but she sees how distant and worn the fighters are when they get back. Not only with her parents but also Uisce, Nancy and Hanovan. The Coliseum is how Uisce injured her eye after all. She pushes the doubts away).
-- Is best friends with Shio. At first they got on each other's nerves but learned to appreciate each other.
-- She picks out Aden's outfits for him, usually picking horrible colors until Shio comes in and saves him.

The Kirin is the Japanese equivalent of the Qilin which is a combination of many creatures. The Japanese description an animal with the body of a deer, tail of an ox and dragon-like aspects like scales. Many have antlers but some descriptions give the Qilin a singular horn. So in modern times it has become associated as a unicorn. The modern translation for "kirin" is "giraffe".
