Biography

Honeycrisp Apple Soylent Red Ivy
The Cook
- Humble - Gentle
- Artistic - Sweet
- Diplomatic - Insightful

Melorey is aware that she isn't coy, particularly graceful or ravishingly beautiful. Instead she is intelligent, well-mannered and sensible. She can turn anything into a lovely meal, raise two headstrong hatchlings and even be diplomatic. She is the firstborn of Terebithia and Sirka, meaning she probably should be an heir, but it's difficult for anyone to imagine her as a clan leader like her mother, who surrounds herself in finery. She is a worthy member of the council, combining thoughtfulness with general common sense.

While she was born 'royal', the clan was so very young that she received no special treatment and instead had to learn at an early age how to provide for her clan and be hospitable, as the eldest daughter of the clan leaders. She quickly tired of clan business and longed for something more in life, feeling no one really paid much attention to her. This is all changed when she met Duncan, a gentleman and traveler who had many exciting stories, but also opened Melorey's eyes to an exciting world: the world of food. He seemed disgusted at the primitivity of the clan (for it had not yet expanded into a tribe) and was about to leave, but Melorey stopped him and begged him to tell her more about cooking. The charming young Mirror heiress son won him over with her eagerness to learn and fine manners despite her wild upbringing. Duncan was hardly a master chef but he had good taste and knew the basics of cooking, so he taught her. At first their relationship was student-and-teacher, with Melorey looking up to him greatly, but as she improved and refined her skills until they surpassed Duncan's, they became friends and equals, for though they came from drastically different worlds they were
close in age. She loved to make him the food he endlessly loved: cheese. That was Duncan's quirk, his love of cheese. He apparently was on the quest to find the most mighty, magical cheese in existence that he claimed the Lightweaver showed him in a dream.

The twosome spent much time together in the kitchen, but finally Duncan felt restless (though slightly reluctant) to continue his quest and travels. Melorey found it quite unfair that her only friend in the tribe (it had grown) that appreciated the art of cooking was leaving to pursue some silly cheese, a friend that had grown to become her dearest companion. They came at a compromise: he could continue his travels after they raised a clutch of eggs so Melorey wouldn't be lonely. They had two lovely hatchlings: Creme and Dun (short for Duncan). Melorey loved her children greatly and loved teaching them how to cook, and the importance of good manners. She eventually had to part with Duncan. Some of her heart still travels with him. She has grown and matured since then and holds much regret for giving her love and pledging herself to someone who could never stay in one place forever. But she makes the best of things and she dedicates a full moon every year to seeking him out and accompanying him on his travels until she has to return to her home once more.

Melorey likes making hearty, filling food that's easily traveled with, mostly because her mate is a traveler himself. She still provides hospitality, but mostly in the form of food.
