She had been waiting for hours, Kethlan had been due back from his latest emissary trip forever ago, but his Imperial silhouette had only just appeared on the horizon. Krom tapped her claw impatiently on the ledge she was perched on, her latest drape for his most majestic wings was held delicately in her little arms. It was to be presented to him upon his return, according to her own schedule, of course. He finally touched down and she beamed brightly.

"You're finally back! It took long enough, I hope you made some good allies along the way. Of course I'm sure you did, you always do, you're the best at what you do after all! I have a ... a gift ... for ... you?" Krom's tirade tapered off as a hatchling slid down from Kethlan's back.

"I ... who is this then? An ... an orphan you picked up?" She could feel the heat filling her cheeks and her stomach clenched. She new this was no orphan.

"This is my son, actually. Having a clutch between clans is a strong bond, after all," Kethlan confirmed her fears and his wistful look off to the islands he had visited proved even more. She felt the heat become tears and stream down her scales. She threw the garment she had crafted to the ground and fled the landing cliff with a sharp dive. Kethlan was left alone with his child and a great deal of confusion...
