Biography

Return to duskflower
Fire Flower Feverfew Fragrant Orchid
The Healer
- Gentle - Nurturing
- Quiet - Introverted
- Restless - Dreamer

Poinsettia had two fascinations as a hatchling: plants and fire. She loved the warmth, light and wildness of fire and the fascinating, healing plants. When she left her birth clan with her friend, Larimar, she began pursuing her love of plants, becoming a healer. She is incredibly nurturing to the dragons in her care, showing them love and kindness and making thin as comfortable as she can. She infuses her garden with magic to help her herbs grow and to better the healing properties of the plants. Poinsettia keeps a very small garden, though, because she enjoys going out and gathering wild herbs. Venturing out into the forests has become an island of peace in her busy days.

Her other great joy is Keeper, her mate and their hatchlings. They met when Keeper opened up his library and became close over a love for knowledge. Poinsettia loved Keeper's books on healing and herbal remedies, and he enjoys the interesting specimens she gathers in her foraging. They became fast friends and close mates. They strive to teach their children about the natural world and the beauty of knowledge. She also became a mother to Manzanita, a young fae who came to the lair hurt and without memory. They couldn't understand each other with words, but they spoke freely with sign language and love.

Poinsettia never forgot the thrill of fire, though. She helps the dragons who control the wildfires, caring for their cuts and burns while watching the roaring flames, and is particularly adept at providing a herbal remedy for Fire-born dragons who cannot harness their power properly. She has a small, enchanted hearth with an ever-burning fire that provides much relief. It has brought dragons out of hypothermia in mere minutes, it reduces the chills of a fever and can often ease the pain of those who are sore. She burns select dried herbs on it to fill the hut with a lovely fragrance or boils water to create equally fragrant steam. Some come in to the hut just to sit by it and always leave feeling a little more invigorated. For those who try to cook on or tamper with, the fire proves to be quite temperamental and will do all it can to disrupt them. Only Poinsettia can calm it - often with some humming and soothing words - and it only bows itself to her.

She vowed to visit the Ashfall Waste, but with the amount of dragons getting hurt and needing care, she knows she'll probably have to take on an apprentice before she can get that much free time.
