Ever since she was a hatchling, Hazmat had an interest in safety. She waddled around lecturing them on the dangers of their daily jobs and advising well meaning but often poorly thought out safety measures. Her proclivities were tolerated, and as she grew her interest did not wane, it became more pronounced. After consulting with Sharp (bringing with her a truly staggering amount of papers, charts and plans) Hazmat appointed herself Head of Safety and Tourism.

Many of the other dragons did not take notice at first, but Hazmat was persistent. She posted signs, wrote and distributed pamphlets and offered advice. As more of her safety measures were gradually incorporated into the working lives of the dragons accidents decreased and the lair became a safer place. The other dragons still viewed Hazmat as something of a nuisance but were glad that at least she was one of a kind...

Through secret channels and unknown ways, word of Hazmat spread and soon she was not the only safety obsessed ridgeback in the lair. Taking it upon herself to organize these new arrivals, Hazmat formed the Dangerbacks, Her children and the children of the other Dangerbacks exhibited the same overwhelming primary personality trait of their parents.

The Hunger was a nightmare come true for Hazmat. While she had never been one for military safety seeing everything around her turn to chaos was too much for her to bear. Her best friends and mates were killed in the attack. In response, Hazmat has expanded her efforts. She now runs a dangerback safety network and is working on ways to safely remove non combatants from the lair should something happen again. While many of the dragons used to see her efforts as nothing more than an annoyance, there has been a growing appreciation of her efforts. Now dragons come to her with suggestions, particularly Leo and Tomato.
